Interesting way to remove a wheel lug

found this on another site and had to share.

http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2684546

it's always fun when the car gets blamed for the owner's stupidness.

normally id agree....but the VW locking lug nuts are JUNKKKKK....they strip out on a whim. Between me and my immediate family we've had to have over 5 lug nuts drilled out. never had a lug nut problem on any other brand of vehicle

Re: Interesting way to remove a wheel lug

I've always hated the VW lug/stud combo. Other car companies have the same thing; MBZ, Audi, Porsche...are you getting the idea? Maybe the German car companies are quite as bright as we're led to think.
We have a screw in stud set up we use on those when installing rims like this guy has (or at least) had which makes life so much easier.

the main problem is for some reason the lug's that VW/Audi uses are WEAK. When you can take the lug wrench and round off a lug with hand power only (not an impact wrench) then you know something is designed wrong. Their keyed lugs are worse....the key part usually breaks off in the lug.

After the 2004 Audi A4 was gone, I vowed to never own anything else in my life but a Ford. Im on my 5th ford which isnt bad considering I was raised by a GM/VW believing dad. In fact, my 2 younger brothers currently have a Cobalt and a 02 A4...dad has a 02 Jetta and mom has an 04 Jetta haha.
