Favorite car that you've owned.......
I apologize if this has been asked recently, but maybe if it has, most of you will be happy to post your favorite again.
Is you current Mach 1 your favorite of all the cars you've owned? My favorite of all of my previous cars, was a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD (barely beating out my 96 T-Topped Z-28). I liked its small size, quick and sharp handling, good turbo power, and the terrific AWD. It was the first car that I owned that I didn't fear to take out in the snow. Then again, those 18 winters of driving didn't do much for the eventual condition of the car. The car had tremendous traction in all weather conditions. A prefect daily driver. And since I kept it largely stock, it was pretty darn dependable too. I haven't had my Mach 1 long enough to fairly judge it with my previous cars, but I think it has a very good chance of becoming my all-time favorite. It is certainly as fast as any of my other cars and has all the comforts and bells and whistles...plus stunning looks. I've owned some sharp looking cars of differing brands (73 Mach 1, 78 Firebird Formula, 85 Trans Am, 91 Talon, 96 Z-28, and 02 Eclipse GT), but even in a short time, I think the Mach 1 gets as much or more attention than any of the others did (even when those cars were brand new). So, is your favorite car in your driveway now, or is there a previous car that will always hold a special place for you?

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
For sure the Mach is the best car I've owned. My previous cars just weren't that special though I did love them when they were almost new. My Mach is 5 yrs old now. In the past I would have thought I needed a better car by the time 5 yrs passed, but not this time. The Mach is a keeper.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
Definitely my favorite car is my '70 Mach 1. Next year I'll have had it for 20 years and have had a lot of fun with that car. It's had 4 different engine combinations in it but the most recent has been in for over 10 years though it's been rebuilt once in that time since it's seen a lot of 1/4 mile track time over the years.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
I find that so true today. In my earlier years of car ownership, 5 years was about the average length of time that I'd own a car. Then, when I got the Eagle Talon, things began to change (along with owning more than one car at one time). I had that car 18 years, kept my next car (96 Z-28, which I was able to enjoy, because I didn't have to drive it in the winter) over 13 years, and my Eclipse GT is appoaching 8 years old and I still think of it as kind of new. The Mach 1, which I bought a few months ago, definitely feels like a new car to me and should be in my driveway for a long while. I also think the Mach 1 is a keeper. I'm sure glad that a few previous owners didn't feel that way though.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
Cool, picture time!
This is my DD and even though it's not particularly amazing, it's my 3rd Thunderbird and I've always liked them alot. Like you, not afraid to drive the heck out of it in snow, etc. And it's a smooth and comfy ride.

Having a car that long speaks volumes about how much you like it. Something I can really identify with. Too bad my old Talon had to be so good in the snow. The snow and particularly the salt were not very kind to the car.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
I will get pictures later on, but I seriously love all my old cars that I've owned, except for the lifted Geo Tracker on mud tires.
I think it would be in this order: 1. SVT Focus / Mach1 [tied, seriously] 2. Nissan Skyline [the most incredible car ever] 3. Ranger FX4 Level II [loved it for the off-roading]

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
You'll think I'm NUTS! But, beside our '03 and '04 Mustangs, my '72 Pinto was my favorite. I owned it new from Feb 8th 1972 'till March of 1994. It was a great car. I couldn't kill it. It looked like it had more outside, than it really had in it. With working Sidepipes, people thought I had a small v8. So I had to run it hard A LOT! It was in the 1984 World of Wheels. Won 3rd place in my class. I still have that trophy. I LOVED that little car. My son got it, and FLIPPED it in a dry canal one night heading home from work. Working 16hrs a day. He made it out fine thank goodness!... That was the only thing the Pinto couldn't take. I miss that little Pony...You would appreciate it more if I could post the photos.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
Clearly, my sentimental favorite, since it was my first brand new car.
Rusted like crazy, you couldn't see to the sides or out the postage stamp sized rear window, but I loved that car. I should have kept it, but all my friends were buying 77-78 Camaros and Firebirds and I finally saw a yellow 78 Formula that won me over.

1990 Nissan Maxima SE. Many many memories of being young with a license. I fixed everything and anything that went wrong with it. It was super comfy. Just an all around great car

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
My fav. is my current 04 Mach. Going back to the 70's and early 80's I did a lot of off road stuff. I was a Jeep guy and had a 77 cj5 Golden Eagle which was my favorite of the Jeeps. There wasn't a hill I couldn't climb. I also owned a 75 Renegade cj5 and the photo shows a 1968 cj5 Keiser Jeep that I was building. It had a Buick 225 V-6 which I did some work to. I blew 3 tranny's with that engine until I put in a Muncie 4 speed. I just recently gave the jeep to someone who wanted a project to do with his son. I'll try to find some photo's of the other Jeeps. Lots of great memories there.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
We all have "that car" that we wished we never got rid of, and this one is mine. It was a Dodge Shelby Charger GLHS. Those who might not know the history of these cars ..... Shelby bought the last 1000 Chargers that Dodge produced in 1987. He special ordered them in all black and had them shipped to his plant out in CA. Once at his plant he changed out the intakes, suspension, and bumped the HP up to a whopping 175hp. Then he shipped them to select dealers and resold them exactly the same fashion as he did with the Shelby Mustangs back in the day. I bought mine new in 1987 and loved to line up against the 5.0 Mustangs and 5.7 Camaro's and give them a run with my little 2.2. There were many a 5.0 and 5.7 that got beat by this 2.2. Keep in mind the car only weighed like 2,400lbs. IMHO this car was ahead of its time with the adjustable suspension and intercooled turbo. I plan on owning another one some day just to hang onto.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
It would have to be my first car, I was 17 years old and I bought a 6 year old 68 Mustang fastback. I fixed that car up so much, it was literaly the talk of the town. The Mach is a very close second, but you can only have your first car once.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
I'm gonna go with the Mach 1. I've had a few that I've really enjoyed, including a 24v Probe GT, but the Mach just does a lot of things really well, and looks d@mn good doing it!

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
The only time I hated the Talon was after about 11 years when the ECU started having leaking capacitors (the car died once on me). I had the ECU shipped out and completely fixed and the car never had a problem with the ECU again. Most of the higher end DSMs (turbo/awd) that were heavily modded had the most problems. The non-turbo DSMs were pretty bad. Particularly the ones with the Chrysler engines and not the 2.0 Mitsu engine.

Re: Favorite car that you've owned.......
Absolutely. Not too many 6-7 year old cars get as much visual attention as a Mach 1. It's like you never feel like you're driving an older car.
