pro charger reliability
so my tuner says he'll never sell prochargers again just because they keep leaking and such. i still doubt him just because everyone has one. how many of you have had problems?

Re: pro charger reliability
Yes mine leaked, but that was after nearly 3 years and 20K + miles. Procharger fixed it under warranty and the car was only out of commission for less than two weeks. Well actually I col d have still driven it without the s/c if I wanted to.
IMHO like Bill said, they are no different than Vortech. Each brand has its quirks. From what I have read the Prochargers tend to leak at the shaft seal which you can replace in your garage, so I consider that no big deal.

Re: pro charger reliability
I have learned that tuners tend to promote the products that they are venders of, and all the other brands suck. Take a tuner opinion with a grain of salt.
IMHO you are doing the best thing which is going out and asking actual Procharger owners about their reliability.

Re: pro charger reliability
I had a p1sc for about 2 years and pushed 10lbs of boost. Mine started to leak after about 6 months....

Don't listen to him. He said the same thing 3 yrs ago when I was contemplating power adders.

Re: pro charger reliability
You might want to check how tight your bypass/blowoff valve is. If its too tight, it'll cause compressor surge causing it to leak.

Re: pro charger reliability
Get in touch with cmemach1. He's had his procharger on his car for......35k??? Maybe more. I'm sure if it was a crappy product, he'd have gotten rid of it by now.
