subaru sti...
who alls run one? It was cold out (and the road was damp, not wet...houston humidity) so I knew he would take me off the line, but by 60 I still hadn't caught him. He beat me all the way down the quarter...even more so then the previous time I went against a subaru. The only other time I raced one at the track he beat me down the 1/4, but only by .1 or so and my mph was 102 and his wasn't even 100. Since I've done a few things since then I thought I woulda done better. Like I said, I knew his 4wd would make him jump out faster then me, but I didn't think it would be so fast I wouldn't be able to catch him.... so I'm getting headers this week, and and xpipe a week or two from know, and they should be installed by next month....think that will help me out any

Re: subaru sti...
Sounds like you need some seat time. A 5 speed Mach properly driven should be low to mid 13's easy.
You should get a tune I think your A/F is off and when you add the exhaust it's not going to get any better.

IBTL
Stis are quick cars. They go low 13s bone stock and if the person knew how to drive it with bolt ons it would got low 12s. Chances are you just needed a drive mod and a set of drs to beat that one though. I races them by the dozens when my car was just bolt ons and never lost to one.

Re: subaru sti...
The dampness kept me from really getting on it off the line, but I didn't have much spin. Its a guy I work with that was driving the sti and he's not positive, but thinks it has something done to it(bought it used off a lot). I have run my car to a best of 13.9 as my sig says, but that was with stock tires and at 3300 ft. Since then I've gotten better tires and alot more track time. I would say here in houston I could run it to low 13's on a good day, but haven't had a good day yet since I moved back, but that didn't stop this sti from beating me. I was catching up to him, so I know I was accelerating faster then him top end, but not enough to catch him. As to needing a tune...I completely agree. However because I'll most likely be getting a custom tune I'd like to wait till I get the headers and xpipe so I don't have to pay to get it done a second time....

Re: subaru sti...

Re: subaru sti...
you would have to build the rear end, 5k rpm clutch dump DR and stock rear end would not last long.

Re: subaru sti...
My neighbor has one and seems to think he is the king of the street I dont imagine I am going to try to take the title away from him due to 1. They are pretty darn quick and 2. I don't have any intentions to race my Mach. I thought they were a high 12Sec car.

Re: subaru sti...
yup..like I said I was gaining on him up top, but his out of the hole was SO much better then mine it was rediculous. I asked him how he launched (stock tires mind you)..."I reved it to 5k, and dumped the clutch...had a short squeel from the tires and I was off." He also added that his clutch was burning to ***** and smelled really bad, and he wasn't sure how much of that it could take.... I'm pretty sure from a role I would have taken him.

Re: subaru sti...
I wouldn't feel too bad. The sti is lighter than the Mach and rated at nearly the same hp. The thing about it is with the addition of a boost controller the sti should easily be able to up the power by the tap of a button up another 40-60hp. The only non-Ford I ever owned was a twin turbo Dodge Stealth. It too was awd and was also a 300hp car, but it also weighed in at nearly 4000# so needed all that power to get it moving. I did install a boost controller and got it up to around 360hp which made it quite a bit quicker for sure, but the transmission in that car was a piece of junk. I will say one thing though it handled like it was on rails around corners with the awd and all wheel steering with the sport suspension turned on which made it quite a stiff ride. It was a fun car, but I've never had to put so much money into a car because there always seemed to be something wrong with it.

Yep breakage is a factory option the the Stealth RT/TT. Mine runs the low 10s in the 1/4 and I keep two replacement transmissions in stock.....I have a lot more fun with my MACH at the track and if it breaks the parts are very reasonable compared the the Stealth....

Re: subaru sti...
I think a Mach vs an AWD car off the line you will lose especially if the track is damp. But by the 1/8th you should have hunted him down for the kill. Other than that ya seat time will help this.

Re: subaru sti...
I did indeed beat an STi, although not under the circumstances that you have obviously assumed. Forum rules prohibit me from going into detail. I will say that it wasn't from a dead stop. Also, I have been 8.69 in my Mach 1 on all season tires, but she blew up so I'm in the middle of an N/A build and I'll be throwing a big shot of spray on it. Piedmont sucks, you should try some different tracks.
