Just wondering if anyone here is or was in the military. I just got out of the Marines.

I think this would be a great discussion.

Also, any military or ex military here in delmarva area?

I'm out of the Florida Air National Guard in 6 days. I have been active duty AF, DoD civilian and part-time National Guard, Full-time National Guard, back to part-time National Guard and now gonna be a DoD civilian again. It's been a crazy ride these last 23 years. I hope your stay with the Marines was better than the time I spent with the AF and the Guard.

army got 5 years so far...might make it a career. THough i dont want 15 tours to iraq on my resume when i get out...

THat and seeing the world really meant seeing the coldest place on earth (afghanistan) followed by hell...(iraq)

Overall the money is nice and i cant complain to much.

I've been in the US Navy for around 7.3 years. I just re-enlisted for another 6 years for $40,000. I absolutely love it, every second. I'm planning on staying in until I stop having fun.

24 Active Duty Army before retiring.

I'm a DoD civilian and love my job. The active duty time was probably 20 yrs GREAT, 2 yrs awesome, and 2 yrs way beyond awesome. The Army was very good to me.

I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Prior USAF here. Was a UH-1 crew-chief from 79-89. Had tons of fun with the helicopters but don't miss the military life at all.

U.S. Navy, Active Duty, been in a little over 11 years. I was a CTM for the first 8, doing IT for the last three, I welcomed the change. It was fun in the beginning, not so much now, but I have enjoyed my adventures overseas and pulling into ports. Nothing beats pulling into Thailand after 90+ days out at sea.

I made it to SP5 enlisted, MAJ (USAR) Commisioned, and couldn't stay for CW5 without missing out on some civilian opportunities.

I'm a CW3, will be at the CW4 board this Jan, but I really dont care! LOL! Branch manager wanted me to go back to Fort Bragg and work for 18th ABC, but Im not going back to Div! Heck, after 11+ years at SOF (best time of my carreer) and finishing up with a 3 year tour in an Air Force base...cant go back to Div!

Time to hang the boots!

0000,8404, HM2 after all was said and done. Also a class 157 BUDS medical drop out. Dislocated my hip running up and down sand barriers during log PT. Spent my 8404 time up in Barstow Ca. with non deploy-able Marines for 2 years, and was a Ship rider on the USS New Jersey with a Mar-Det unit, but was assigned the Hot Rack most of my debacled tour. I was going on a west pac, made it to the Aleutian Islands when the ship was recalled back to port because of a turret explosion on the USS Iowa back in 1990. I would have went to the Phillipines, Japan, and Australia. I was looking forward to becoming a shellback! But it is true that you meet the needs of the Navy, and a dream sheet is just that!

Just about to cross the 18-yr mark... Currently Air National Guard, but in combat weather... all Army support so I barely know what color my uniform is by now... (blue + green = purple??)

I've spent my whole career generally alternating between Division staff work and supporting aviation BN's and BDE's... guess which one I could live without and which I love!

It's just a part time thing now (other than when on contingency orders du jour) so I'll be sticking in until; a) I stop having fun at it. or b) They drag me out kickin' and screamin'.
