Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
Dont be so sure . If they have in writing what they are sueing for its money in the bank . Dont be surprised if Rousch is sued as well .
You would think these big companies would learn by now .

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
Heck I have a letter from Ford stating they are only making 6500 Mach's....NOT. Thats why we all went out and bought them, not knowing they were making way more and into 2004.....

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
I thought these were Roush Mustangs?! What does that have to do with Ford? Aren't the Roush cars like Shelby's or Saleens? I don't remember Ford selling these, I remember Roush selling these. I think they have sued the wrong entity.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
Ford builds the car in a conversion-ready state and ships it to Roush for their work. The cars are sold thru Ford dealers. It's really a partnership between Ford and Roush.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
I saw that story and this is the first place I thought of!
Of course if Mach 1 owners sued for that reason they would probably only stand a chance if they bought a 2003 in 2003 and were the cars original owner

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
I think they have some right to be upset...and maybe even to recover some of the premium price they paid. Afterall, they did buy a "limited" edition model. I would agree that they did the same thing with the mach, but I bought mine after all had been produced so I knew what I was getting. As to the 12 million for 100 people, well I think that is WAY overkill. After taxes and paying of the lawyer there would be something like 6 million left...which is 60,000 for each person. So they think that because its not as rare as orginally specified they deserve to get the car for free.. ..? They would have better luck suing for 3 million...getting 1.5 after lawyer and taxes...15k for each person, or the premium. If it were me I would say oh well...they made 200 instead of 100, but its a fun car. You shouldn't be buying a car as an investment anyway, the markets too unpredicable to make that a smart idea. The world seems to be filled of greedy people willing to sue at the drop of a hat....Everybody wants to get rich quick...but it shouldn't be at someone elses misfortune or expense.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
Yeah, I paid MSRP at the time and was sore when there were incentives later of up to $3000. Ouch!
I will be interested to see what happens in this lawsuit, and I do think $12MM is excessive.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
This is a joke, whatever happens after the 2007 model year is fair game, if some dealer lied then there's nothing Ford or Roush can do about it.....the whole thing will fly like a lead balloon imho. And those people can...

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
Yeah, the cert that comes with it will say car # 2 of 100 for the 2007 model year, and so on....thats why I say this will go nowhere, 2008 is a different story altogether. Roush was correct in saying only 100 will be built, and 100 were built in 2007!!

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
What Ford lied again ? is it the 1st time? Ford has decided to make more Bullitt Mustangs in 09.The additional number will be 2,100 for a total production run of 7,700. See the pattern ? Anyone who buys a car as an investment is a fool anyway. I didnt buy my Mach to look at in the garage I bought it to drive. Besides I saw a Mach selling in a ad that had .5 miles on it .What did he do have it towed to his house ?

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
People that buy new cars and expect them to be instant collectibles should have their heads examined. With the way that Ford is losing money lately I say that they should sell as many of the **** things as they can.
There were roughly 560 shelby's produced in 65, about 2350 in 66, just over 3,000 in 67 and so on. Look at what those cars are worth now. The numbers are insane. A first generation Shelby Mustang is a pretty exclusive car and is highly sought after. So even with a 2 year production run of 100 a year the Blackjack is a **** rare car. I ordered our Mach 1 in May of 02 and picked it up in Dec 02. I paid MSRP for it and do I wish I got the rebates that were offered later. Yeah but I also had absolutely no leverage when I ordered it and I knew it. I bought it to drive and not as an investment. Almost 90k miles later and I am still happy I bought it. The moral of the story for the yahoo story is that don't EVER buy a new car as an investment. Its not just foolish, its stupid. I hope they get nothing from their lawsuit. 1 out of 200 over 2 years is still **** rare.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
If I were their lawyer I wouldn't shoot for the collectability angle. I would simply say that my client was told he was buying a very limited car (100) and he purchased the vehicle with the knowledge he would be one of one hundred that owned that car. Now there are twice as many on the road.
That's pretty much how I viewed the purchase of my 03 Mach. I wanted to drive a car that you didn't see very often. |

He IS one of 100 that own a 2007 BJ, thats the whole point. The cert that comes with the car says for "2007" also. If some low life dealer said only 2007 model year BJ's were going to be made, Roush cannot control that. Roush didn't lie to anybody, he made exactly 100 of them for 2007.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
TJ... It's a pretty safe bet that you didn't order your Mach six months before the first one was made, and paid a premium, and read article after article that said that the Mach was the second of Fords one year special editions. The first being the exclusive, one year only 02 Bullit. I totally agree that Ford never published a press release stating "We will continue to make Mach 1's until they are sitting on the lot with rebates". But Ford exec's did state in interviews that Ford's plans were to release one year special editions.
I got my Mach1 on the A-plan, so it actually didn't make it a dollar issue with me. And if there hadn't been a second year release there wouldn't be nearly the after market stuff available. But I surely can sympathize with those who swallowed the one year only hype and paid up to $5k in premiums. The Black Jack owners have a much larger investment that we do. If I ever thought about purchasing a limited edition anything I would want to see it in writing that only a certain number would be made... and none of the "this year" BS either. |

The collctability is the ONLY angle they have. Ford, and other makers, always reserve the right to alter production numbers. I'd bet that such a disclaimer can be found in some of the printed materials.

Re: Blackjack Buyers sue ford- Sounds familiar
I have stated many times in my post that they should build as many as they can sell and quit calling them Special Editions. I bought the Mach because it has heritage and is one bad azz car. People need to buy these cars to enjoy and not to live in the Barrett Jackson world. Ford sold over 72,000 Mach 1 Mustangs in the 69 model year and that sure did not hurt the price of that car. Just my .02
