Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

Where do I get them? I called Russell Performance and they said that they do not make them for the Mach 1.

You can ask for the 99-01 cobra lines. They will work. Or as Lonestar7 said.

Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

Not sure of anyone else on here but I have the Maximum Motorsports ones and they have been on the car since August of '05. AND have almost 60k and just about 2 seasons of hillclimb/road course events on them. I do have the brake fluid replaced/flushed yearly at a minimum. Regularly bleed them also.

Did you have to use an adapter on any of the calipers? Does that particualr kit come with the rear center hose or just the 4 at the calipers? The one I'm looking at on the Russell site says 99-04 Cobra (with IRS); is that the correct kit? Sorry for all of the questions, I would just like it to be right.

Thanks for the info guys

Cool Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

Well I had to use the front braided lines that came with the Cobra R brake kit. I used the rear lines though and sold off the front lines with my old calipers. If your still stock brakes the set front and back will fit. The Cobra R brakes with 4 piston calipers really work well my car can stop on a dime now.

Good deal. Yes, I still have the stock front and rear calipers. Were there any issues with the fact that the kit was for an IRS rear instead of an 8.8?

I am thinking of getting the front lines from Steeda. Russell manufactures them for them.

They only sell fronts right? What about rears for our cars.

Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

So in general, when shopping around for SS braided brake lines, do you look for Cobra ones or what? I know the calipers are the same as the Cobra, but wasn't sure about the brake lines, especially the rear like Spenser said. If this was answered here, I didn't get it.

Now I saw this and was thinking of ordering but I am worried that it won't be the correct part for my car. Is this correct?

Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

What are you doing with your car that you need a set of these? I've run both factory and steel braideds. I don't see any need for the steel braided lines unless you want something 'cool' on your car.

Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

Yea, I think the Mach stops pretty dern quick. Quick enough for what I'm doing. Now if your running 120mph into 90 degree turns, then maybe these are for you.

Cool Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

The lines are a good mod and I would do front and rear. Brakes are you life line so always a smart mod that could save you from an accident.

Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

Yes, brakes are a life line. However, for 99.99% of Mach owners, the factory brake lines are more than sufficient and the upgrade would be a waste of money. It would be money well spent on a pad upgrade or a pad/rotor upgrade not to mention a fluid flush.

Cool Re: Braided Steel Brake Hoses?

Have to disagree with you! I own an NAcar with lots of mods and I can't count the number of times my brake mods saved me and my Mach. Yes the factory brakes are ok but if you truely like to drive brakes are what keep you safe. I spent a lot of money and I feel it was a great buy and the added safety margin has added a lot to the pleasure I get of driving my Mach to the edge and back. Drive a Mach with the Cobra R brakes or 6 piston calipers or a stocker with SS line upgrades then tell me there not worth it. If you just drive 55 you can live with stock brakes but most of us do drive a tad bit more than that.

so these will fit the front and rear properly right? i am very close to ordering a set for front and rear and i dont want to run into any problems

my brake upgrade is gonna consist of a set of rotor pros slotted rotors, stainless steel brake hoses, New ABS module, hawk ceramic brake pads, flush the old brake fluid out put new in "any suggestions on what kind to use", kenne brown front brake vents and that should about wrap it up
