Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

My buddy has a little Hyundai Tiburon. He is thinking about joing the Dark Side and getting a Mach1. He is giving up on his car cause of the lack of power. This is a link to the Mach, What do you guys think?

Worth a look and drive I think.. It really depends on what his price point is and if he wants a high mileage mach?

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

Looks great for 81k miles. I'd say drive it and look it over real good. Look underneath, check the alignment of the body seams, and look for signs of overspray which would indicate it was wrecked.

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

Price doesn't look too bad...Car looks good for the mileage. I notice someone has yanked the factory stereo.

Something looks funky with the right rear where the bumper meets the body..might be lighting, but might be some damage.

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

If it’s going to be a daily driver and he doesn’t want to do any engine rebuilding than I would not do it. Lets be honest 80+ thousand miles is a lot on a mach and if it will be used as a dd than it will quickly see the north side of 100k, but then again if its going to be a weekend car or he doesn’t care if it breaks and he has to fix it than I would say go for it. Defiantly do a car fax report and look for sings of repairs as stated before.

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

Ok I guess I'll be the first to say it WHERE THE HELL IS THE SHIFTER KNOB?(never mind I went back and read the ad.)

I wouldnt worry too much about the mileage I have 100k on my GT and the biggest issue it has had was reverse going out, no motor problems what so ever, and keep in mind I drove the car from when I was 16 till I got the mach at 21 so it didnt have an easy life. LOL

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

It looks good for the miles. Where I live now you can figure on an average of 20,000 miles/year on a vehicle so 81k isn't that outrageous. Whoever had it apparently wasn't into modding it for performance or they at least kept the stock airbox and silencer to put back on it. I'd say it's definitely worth checking out.

Decent car for the price if you ask me (I'd shoot for $13.5k). Definitely a car to mod the hell out of now!

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

Look it over real good, dont take the car-fax as gospal. The car I traded had 2 accidents when i had it (both over 1500.00) but nothing ever showed on the car fax, the dealer even has it on display now as never been hit. Good luck.

If it gets your friend out of a HYUNDAI, then price & mileage shouldn't matter. Friends should not let friends drive Hyundai's.

Car looks great if it checks out mechanically I'd go for it. By the way you WILL mod it. Especially if it already has an exhaust. Its like smokin crack can't stop moddin it.

Re: Hey Guys Chime in on this Deal?

Too many miles. Drivers seat looks pretty worn. Should not need a clutch at 80k unless it was abused. Price is ok for a dealer, but a way better deal can be had private party. I would tell your friend to hold out for a better one.

I was thinking the seat didnt look too bad at all for 80k. I'd give 13.5k tops but would shoot for 12.5k.

If you run out of paper in the bathroom, take along a Carfax. That's about all they are good for. I have seen low mileage cars that were hit so hard that the frame was cut and patched with a clean Carfax. More than once. Nothing beats a good old fashioned inspection, maybe even at a dealer. I know you guys do not want to hear that, but an experienced tech at the Ford dealer has seen so many Mustangs he knows at a glance if the car is worth buying.
