Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
By some guy who had nothing but praise for my Mach! Ok, I wasn't accosted, but I was like why is this stranger approaching me? He was nice, said, I'm sorry, I hope I didn't scare you, I just wanted to look at your car. He was telling me how he had a 69 back in the day, and he was in awe of the shaker. Anyway, we talked for a few minutes. I said, " thanks for the compliment, I think most people around here think this is JUST a Mustang. He replies, "THAT is no ordinary Mustang!" He said I should hang on to this one, he knew it was sort of rare. I told him the white was the rarest! Anyway, that is all! I really haven't had too many comments since I got the car in April, maybe 3. I wish I had a pic, it was looking mighty fine in the lighted lot at night, I just cleaned it, and WOW!
Some people out there know a Mach1 when they see it, which usually surprises me. The ya-hoos around here either rice up in the most garbage way possible, or they drive hoopties with blingy rims. Or they have BORING rides. I'm telling you unless some more Machs head to Central IL, I will reign here!

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
LOL.... My first compliment was from a young teenage male... he looked over and said "nice mach". I was like wow, he knew what this is! He drove away in his GT.
I get looks, most ppl ask, is that thing in the hood aftermarket? How much did it cost to install? Is it functional?

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
Yup...I still get compliments all the time. It is really nice because the older car crowd appreciates the heritage this car represents, and there are enough of the newer crowd out there who appreciate what the car is...
it is a lot of fun...

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
It never occurred to me that it could have been any of you. I think I clearly stated that he was NICE!
Another good story, at the gas station, a red v6 is sitting there, clean with two pipes in back, and temporary plates. There is a young guy in there. Two girls get out of his car and go in. I pull up right next to him, in the bad as hell Mach, it's shining like a diamond. He was kinda smiling and he looked over and looked at my car, and I swear his face just sank. He think he realized thaat he bought the wrong one! I did have someone ONCE ask me if it was modified or came like that. Weirdo!

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
I bought my Mach in April and the first time I took it to get gas I wanted to check the tire pressure. While I was parked by the air compressor a guy in and new Shelby pulled up to use the pay phone that was next to the compressor. It was the first non 500 I had seen on the road so I was checking it out when another guy filling his truck up walked over to me and said nice Mach I, you don’t see many of these on the road he didn’t even look at the Shelby. I thanked him for the complement and was smiling ear to ear when I drove away.

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
I drove mine to a grocery store a while back and when I came out to the car there was a Legend Lime GT parked facing mine. The guy had an aftermarket shaker on it and thought mine was the same as his. Although he seemed like a nice guy I had to let him know the differences between the authentic Mach and wanna-be Mach.

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
The first comment/compliment I received on the Mach was from some youngster sweeping the parking lot at Office Max. Hes staring at the car when me and my lady exit the store./ He strolls over and with a crooked grin says " is that a real Mach ?". I laughed because at the time I wasn't aware you could buy shakers etc. I asked if he'd like to look under the hood. When I popped it I think I saw a little drool exit his mouth.
I still get compliments all the time.

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
NICE !!!!
Some People real appreciate our Cars. The Complement that sticks out in my mind came from the owner of a '01 Camaro SS. He had to pull up alongside me at a traffic light, motioned me to lower my passenger side window and tell me how much he liked my Car! (NO! I didn't ask how many rattles his Car had! LOL!) |

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
I think our hoods really emphasize the shaker whereas with the aftermarket shakers the hood is just flat.
My Mach gets a lot of stares when I'm out driving it. I look at them like WTF are you looking at then I realize what car I'm driving. Yep, I'm blonde. LOL

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
I had somebody leave a business card under my wiper. It said " Gorgeous car ... under penalty of death, you can never sell it unless you call me first." In my mind the ultimate compliment!

Re: Accosted in the supermarket parking lot
I normally get thumbs up and waves while driving but it's the in person reactions that are funny now. I still haven't gotten the shaker mounted back up yet after my eaton swap so when someone is walking up to it, they have the normal "oh, that's a nice car" look but once they peer through the hole in the hood and see the blower, they get this "holy ****" look on their face
This happened last night @ Vatozone. I stopped by to get some oil change supplies and the night manager was out there having a smoke and freaked when he saw the blower. Long story short, he twisted my arm into leaving 2 big black marks in their parking lot since he wanted to hear what a ported Eaton sounded like. |
