New 4.6 4v ??? And it goes where???

This is a link to BON for an online article they've published about a niche Mustang engine in the works. Apparently a 4.6 4v, there are a number of future Mustangs mentioned as possible recipients; Bullitt, Mach 1, and GT-350. Also mentioned is that you can get the new Shelby GT with a Shelby installed blower (first I've heard of that one!)...

If there are any Romeo or Flat Rock employees here that would like to add information, please do!!!

Re: New 4.6 4v ??? And it goes where???

I know Shelby has mentioned another horse in the stable (via their President on TMS). But she has not gone into great detail regarding future powertrains for a possible GT350 . . . . she did hint that they were/are saving the white/blue stripes (unavailable on the Shelby GT) for a future model . .

I think that could quite possibly be the most misinformed article I've ever read ...

Or one with a cast iron block, Forged H beam rods, forged pistons,
Ford GT heads w/FR500 cams, and a 00"R" intake.

I know Ford Racing is suppling certain performance packs for the Shelby GT's and there have been some more inside discussions that cannot be discussed here.

I find this to be a very exciting avenue for the mod motor and Mustang. More choices mean more happy consumers and makes the mustang brand that much more stronger.

The only thing I find missing is any reference to the long rumored, killed, resurrected and now no longer heard from 'Hurricane' engine project...

Yea... the only place I have read about that project is in Motortrend. Is it mentioned anywhere else?

Re: New 4.6 4v ??? And it goes where???

"So, what does this 4.6L niche engine entail? We cannot get into specifics, however, prototypes have an aluminum block..."

Sounds like the basis for a BOSS Mustang engine. No compromises driver's car, gotta be lightweight. De-content the heck out of it for weight & price savings. Delete the spare tire, sound deadening, rear seat, radio... get it down to 3300 lbs & premium-gas tuned N/A 375 hp w/6-spd and I bet it runs as fast as the GT500 plus handles a lot better.

Not the best daily driver, but neither were the original Boss Mustangs.

Re: New 4.6 4v ??? And it goes where???

Lets not get too crazy with the deletion of all the cool stuff. I need my Boss to be a daily driver. So when I'm not romping on it I would like it to be some what smooth and sophisticated. Not to mention that the 07' stangers come with a lot of cool features. Available navigation, heated seats, leather arm rest, and leather dash cover. As long as it has at least 50 more horses than a stock GT I will be happy. Now I would be more happy if it had 400 more but beggers can't be choosers. Our Machs weren't all stripped out. The only thing we couldn't get was the Mach 1000, and I think that was to keep weight down. I'm done.
