It's not too bad here, honestly. It's hotter than hell every day, but it's not as bad as when I was in Qatar last year with 120+ days and 70+ percent humidity.

Where are you waiting on orders to? The desert?

This is my 3rd trip in 2 years, so it's nothing new to me. What's your AFSC?

I'm in the reserves and just completed my level 3 tech school training as a vehicle operator. We just sent over 100 people out of our reserve unit to Kuwait a month ago (I'm in an A-10 fighter wing), and had 4 vehicle operators leave a couple of months back for an 8 month tour in Qatar. I wasn't able to go because I wasn't a 3 level yet. Now I am, so I'm just a waiting. Good luck to you and stay safe!!

I'm kind of a special case. I was 13 years active in the Navy, got out in 2000, went 4 years Navy reserves, and now I'm just a year and a couple of months into my twilight years in the Air Force reserves.

I was thinking about it and came to the conclusion ahead of time that you were either active duty before hand or been in another service. That's cool though. Reservists are good ****. Last year at Al Udeid in my shop we had a lot of reservists from Baltimore, Milwaukee, Colorado Springs, Niagara Falls and Willow Grove (PA). ART's are a special breed, and we couldn't do our job without them. As a fighter wing, we've got lots of them because those A-10's can't just sit there for a month until the next drill weekend. They fly all of the time, and the ART's are there to support them.

BTW, all 4 of the vehicle operators that we sent to Qatar a couple of months back were all 3 levels. Since I was active for so long and have all of the leadership schools and what not done, my actual time from 3 to 5 level is going to be waived. I've got to knock out the CDC's (hopefully done within a month after I get them) and then I should be pushed up to 5 level. The same thing goes for 7 level, and then as soon as I obtain my 7 level, I will be advanced to Tech Sgt as I've got in excess of 16 total years and 4 years at my current paygrade. It's a promotion program that I think is reserved for reservists.

Nice pics SeeingRed. Sounds like we are both having the same weather. I would definately trade you locations for a day or few, lol. I had my first run in with the camel spiders the other night. Man, those things are fast.

Substanger, good luck on those freaking CDC's. I am prior AF with olnly 6 years under my belt. They are a complete joke. I got my 7 level completed and I honestly never applied anything I learned in the books on the actual job. Although, I had to keep drilling my troops so they could pass their CDC's and do good as well.
