Mach 1 storage help.
I am preparing to deploy again. I will be leaving the Mach in my garage, but I was wondering what I should do to ensure that everything will be ok by the time I get back. I'll be gone for a year. Thanks for your help.

Re: Mach 1 storage help.
Put some Stabil ( gas stabilizer) in the tank, unhook the battery. I have used moth balls in the engine compartment and around underneath the car to deter mice when I used to store my 88Gt for the winter. You can also cover the tailpipes with plastic bags etc.. to keep mice out of there. Pump the tires up to about 44 lbs to help prevent flat spots. Good luck with your deployment.

Re: Mach 1 storage help.
I'm deployed right now and am storing my car. Another tip someone has told me is to put an Arm & Hammer baking powder thing or two inside of the car to keep it fresh inside...don't know how well it works, but I put one in the front and in the back.

Re: Mach 1 storage help.
Thanks for all of the advice everyone. I will be heading back to Iraq at the end of this week. Just like last time I was there I will be on this site often. It will be interesting to see the new things that come about over the next year. So my tires will be ok if I have the psi up?
At least this will give me time to save up for my super charger! Take care everyone and farewell

Re: Mach 1 storage help.
Good luck on your deployment. The last time I deployed, I changed the oil, put STABIL in a full fuel tank, scattered some dryer sheets throughout the interior, disconnected battery, stuffed oily rags in the tailpipes, and put maximum air in the tires. Had my wife check to ensure the tires were not getting soft. That was it. Was gone for approx. 10 months and had no problems. Changed the oil when I got back and drove it like I stole it. I don't know if this is the CORRECT way to store it, but it worked for me. I am deploying again and will do the same thing. Hope this helps.

Re: Mach 1 storage help.
First and foremost, thank you for fighting for our freedom. I pray you
arrive safely and return safely. If possible, have a friend or family member (that you trust) drive it once in a while. There is nothing worse than not driving the car for long periods of time...... |

Re: Mach 1 storage help.
What about preps prior to starting when he returns?
I am deployed now, but only for two months. I plan on just pulling the fuel pump fuse and cranking the engine to get some oil back up into the heads and also through out the engine prior to my first start up. Maybe I am being too cautious, but thats how I am with my Mach.

SeeinRed be safe over there as well because I am going to need somebody to run against when we both are back in Abilene, lol. BTW, we already have the 120-130 weather over here. It was 128 the other day. I see you get at least one day off a week as well. I work a minimum of 84 hours a week, lol. To all the Vets that have served and still serve, God Bless and Thank You!
