A weird question...
I recently bought a Mach 1, my first Mustang, and I have a strange quesstion. I have been looking at a lot of people's pictures online and noticed the Mach 1 logo on the rear of the car. Mine doesn't have one. Should it? I probably sound like the biggest idiot ever, but I have been wondering about it.

Ummmm...yes, yes it should I would double check to make sure you aren't missing anything else, like, say...a 4V 4.6L engine...

No, I may sound like an idiot, but I'm not that big of an idiot. It's the real thing. Ha-ha. I knew someone would suggest that I was some dope that was duped. It really doesn't have one, and I thought it was strange.

Probably built late on Friday afternoon and the guy thats supposed to put that emblem on was gone for the day! You know how those @#$% UAW workers can be. Come to think of it, I might've left a few parts out of that last Jeep tranny I built the other day. (oh well!) ((Just kidding!!!))

It's easy enough to get one, just ask your dealer to slap one on there, they like putting emblems and decals and things like that on cars! Otherwise, just order one from the myriad of people selling them on the internet, and stick it on yourself.

some jag-off probably popped it off late one night while the car was at the dealership, then went home and stuck it on his 'modded' Honda Civic

Yep, what mufftang66 said. Look for the Honda around town with the Mach emblem. Or maybe you are from the same town as the guy who saw the Focus with a Mach badge on it........

The Ford dealership has them in stock down here for around $10. But, if I were you I'd take it back to the dealer and have them put it on.

You're not an idiot for asking at all. While we all love our cars and are thankful that Ford has brought back this legend, we've noticed a little bit of quality control here and there. Little stuff mostly, like Cobra brake calipers, Cobra steering wheels, mismatched rocker panels, incorrect rear seats. You know, little stuff. I think the idea of making these things on the same production line as the GT sounded good, but at times has been a little rough in execution.
My favorite was the photocopy of a handwritten note that was taped to the plastic wrap on a lot of our front seats, reading "Mach 1 Part." They spend millions on computer controlled just-in-time inventory, and it still takes a hand-written note to sort that out! That being said, I'm sure some jerk popped your Mach logo off your trunk during shipment.

I don't remember seeing GT, V6, or Cobra owners having as many, percentage wise, errors of having the wrong model parts. If you think of it, for every Cobra part on a Mach 1 means there is a Mach 1 part on a Cobra (a "swap"). I mean, that Mach 1 rear seat had to end up somewhere, most likely in the car who's rear seat ended up in the Mach 1. I don't consider the items you mention as being "little stuff". The "little stuff", to me, are those Mach 1's with the wrong door lock soldiers. And don't forget the missing side stripes, the missing hood stripes, the one Mach 1 with only 1/2 a hood stripe. I think someone even gotten the wrong springs too, no? I wonder the percentage of cars with errors is for the Mach 1? 25%?? |

This is not something you should have to pay for. It was missing when you bought it so dealer should pick up the tab. But White made a good point. If you put the honeycomb panels on it's less hassle to leave it off for now.

I think someone took 'em off for souveniers too. There's a couple of us who's cars came with crooked lettering. My 1 looks like it's slowly sliding off and the rest have about a 10 deg. tilt. I think the dealer had to replace them and stuck them on by hand. Your dealer probably didn't notice they were gone.
