I Have Gears!!
It's kind of a long story, but I always kinda thought that my speedometer wasn't right or something, even when doing the speed limit it always seemed like everyone was flying by me. It was sitting at a mitsubishi dealership when I bought it three months ago with only 3k on it, naturally they didn't know a goddarn thing about it other than it was a mustang. after i bought it i discovered that it had after market suspension on it(bonus!), a little while later i had it at a ford dealership (suspension was clunking) and they told me it had 4.10's in it, i was extremely surprised to say the least, i still haven't gotten under there and taken a look for myself, but anyway i took her to the track (mile high Denver) and ran a 14.4 @ 96m.p.h but my speedometer said i was doing close to 110 mph, so obviously the gears are causing the speedo read the speed improperly or something. So, really long story short, i am wondering what to do about this problem, a friend told me a mustang shop said i would need to buy an aftermarket chip and they could reprogram it or something. so if anyone knows anything that can help me it would be much appreciated.
thanks, mike |

Re: I Have Gears!!
No need for a tune or a self tuner. You can get a speed-cal to fix your speedo too.

Re: I Have Gears!!
Oh yeah that is what I forgot. If it's an auto you may have to have the shift points adjusted.

Re: I Have Gears!!
Thanks, guys you've been helpfull. the clunking of the suspension was the upper and lower control arms were'nt torqued right, but once tightened all was good. and oh yeah, a 14.4 up here on a pretty much stock mach is very respectable.

Phil is selling one right here. Phil is a great guy and I would not think twice about buying something from him.

Re: I Have Gears!!
In denver, banidmere is one of the highest altiude racing strips in the country. a 14.1999 is very good! Im asuming you race at Banidmere? We havent raced the Mach there yet, but will be there Saturday for Club Clash. We also have a 2004 GT which we race up there. And I dont know the exact conversion for sea level but its around 12 I belive. Better be careful...you're almost in need of a helmet there! Thats my goal!

Tuner can change many things and the speed cal can only change the speedo. Tuner is about 300 and the cal is about 100. If you plan on more mods I would go with the tuner, if you stay where you are I would use the speed cal. Basic tune out of the box on one of those hand helds will perk your car up for sure, nothing insane but you would be able to feel the tune and should get you about a couple of tenths inthe 1/4 and maybe a few mph. Good luck. |

Re: I Have Gears!!
I do realize what impact the altitude makes on ET, that's WHY i mentioned unless he's at 6000, which he happens to be, then it would be not respectable - but since he is, it is respectable.
however, since he did come back with the name calling, after failing to read my post, here, i'll turn the other cheek. Good job on your ET! which btw, at 6k DA still translates to a 13.3, et from which you'd be staring at my license plate the entire way... so good luck "smoking my ***".
