Here is a new one,I promise!

I'm tired of the pollen coming into the cabin thru the AC,vent, heat, etc. and am thinking that if I knew where the fresh air intake was I could rig up some kind of filter even if it's just a piece of foam cramed in the intake.Any ideas on location of intake or filter ideas?

I think it probably has a filter on the air intake. I always see the Valvoline Oil Change place advertising to replace them. I think most new cars these days have them already.

I would guess in the cowl area. There's probably a way to do it, but it might require breaking seals you wouldn't want to break without knowing what you are doing.

Re: Here is a new one,I promise!

I don't think there's a filter commercially available for the Stang, and if you do find one, it'll be outrageously expensive.
It's much cheaper to get a large furnace filter and cut it to size and secure with duct tape.

We do this for Escapes all the time
Ford cabin filter = $18
Furnace filter = $2.50 ($10 that makes 4 filters).

If you get a good filter, it works much better than the Ford filter too.

Re: Here is a new one,I promise!

Here is what the Ford Shop Manual says about the Mustang cabin

Air Distribution

Note:
The air distribution system of this vehicle cannot be equipped with a cabin air filter.

There are two sources of air available to the air distribution system:

l outside air

l recirculated air

Recirculated air is only used during MAX A/C.

Air distribution within the vehicle is determined by the function selector switch position. Airflow control doors are used to direct airflow within the air plenum chamber. Vacuum control motors (18A318) are used to position these airflow control doors. Refer to «Section 412-00»for a description and operation of each of the system functions.

The air distribution system is designed to provide airflow from the defrost nozzle when no vacuum is applied to any of the vacuum control motors. This is done to prevent a situation where defrost cannot be obtained due to a system vacuum leak.

Air enters the passenger compartment from the:

l instrument panel A/C register (19893).

l heater outlet floor duct (18C433).

l windshield defroster hose nozzle (18490).

l side window demisters.

Passenger compartment air is exhausted from the vehicle through open windows or body air vents.

You could cut up a vacuume cleaner filter possibly. I've seen a humidifier one that would work pretty well.

Good idea, but only high-end cars have filters for the cabin. My wifes Lincoln LS has one
