How many of you have owned Camaros?

How many of us have owned Camaros?

I've had two.

One was what I call a 1972 speed racer. I bought the car in high school for $250; It barely ran but was fast. One day while a friend was driving it the engine compartment caught on fire. My friend was able to replace all of the wiring and it ran just like before.

Second one was a 1976 with a three speed. Totaled that one when running a red light in 1988. Ironically, I hit a van that was owned and driven by a man who was married to my former girlfriend.

Camarro

2001 Z28 Camaro with the LS1 motor. Sold it as soon as I saw the MACH1 come out........ and glad I did!!! The MACH1 has brought me so much more enjoyment than the Camaro ever did! I will have to admit that the LS1 was a badazz!!!

I restored a '69 Camaro 350 SS. Then re-did engine with roller everything, B&M 400, driveshaft, hd yokes, locker rear, moser axles in the 12 bolt. Everything that was available for the car, parts wise, was replaced. It was traded for a WS6 in 2001. The owner of the dealership took it for himself and put it in his museum. You can see it in Elizabethtown, Ky's Swope Chrysler/Dodge. You could eat off the bottom...lol.

Never had one.

My brother had an 84 2.8L Camaro and my sister had an 89 2.8L T top Camaro. The 84 was an alright car the 89 was a piece of crap.

In 1978, I had a '68 coupe that was my winter rat. I paid $750 for it, drove it thru two winters, then sold it for the same $750. It was an automatic, blue with a white interior. When I first bought it, the engine would jump up and hit the hood. That was particularly dangerous when turning left as the accelerator would get stuck until the engine came down. I took it in to a Chevy dealership to have the motor mounts replaced and was surprised when the they said that the factory had a recall on them and the original owner from 10+ had never brought it in. "Free of Charge" was music to my ears.

It was a fun car to beat around the western side of Michigan back then. My summer car was a '73 MGB-GT, on blocks during those long, snowy months.

Isn't it great when you buy a used car, beat on it for a few years, and then sell it for the same price?

'68 SS 396 that a previous owner upped to a 454. Had the "tick-tock" tach and console rally gauges. later I ended up with another '68 with a 350 ci small block that was stroked to 383ci. a certified torque monster. Each were automatics but had such a power-to-weight advantage that driving either one was an exercise in "aim and punch it". Neither was safe on a wet road.

Regreted selling each of them 15 minutes after the title was transferred. I don't think my wife will put up with me ever getting another one.

None here. Brother had an 85 Z28 (4bbl). It was just as fast as his 89 TA (#100 of 500 Bandit II's). He beat the snot out of both, they didn't care, just begged for more. I wouldn't mind finding a good 78-81 Z28 with 4Spd.
