Gear time..decide my fate 4:10s or 4:30s
Will I have traction, take off, problems later when I decide to add SC or Turbo?

I vote 4.30's i mean if yer gonna do it, do it! BUT...if and when the sc or turbo is added i would wait on gears and see the power level you achieve to decide, who says 3.73 or 3.90 may be a better choice!
my .02 oh yea 4.30 w/ sc or turbo, and stock tires...yes bad traction

Before you decide if I were you I'd do a little more research and have a realistic view of what you will be adding in the way of a SC or turbo. Most of the posts I have read at a variety of sites and in the mags indicate with a SC or Turbo, you want less gear, not more.....usually on the order of 3.73's. NA is fine with the 4.10's 4.30's or whatever, but with a power adder, no so. Just my 2 cents...............

4.30's are the best mod to date for me. Fifth gear now serves a purpose.

I'm happy with my 4.10's. My rpms at 70 mph in my automatic is 2700 rpm, any higher and it would be annoying. I get just a little more whine from my 4.10's compared to the stock 3.55's, but I would assume I might have got even more with the 4.30's. Either way, DON'T FEAR THE GEAR!

I like my 4.10's. I'm spinning 2300 RPM's at 70 mph with a 5-speed. 4.30's would put me about 2500 RPM's at 70 mph.

It really depends what your plans are...
If your going to stay N/A, 4.10s are great, but if you are into drag racing and what not, 4.30s is the only way to go. If your going FI you may wanna consider something in the 3.73, 3.90, 4.10 range... I just installed 4.10s in my car, and its awesome. If i was staying NA 4.30s woulda been needed, but im bolting up the Procharger this week, so the 4.10s are where im at. If you think about it, if you raced your Mach at the track with the stock 3.55's, you should be only using 3rd gear through the traps, and 3rd gear is a 4.68 final drive ratio, just something to think about...

What if I'm not going to the track every weekend and mostly just a daily driver...I plan on going to track ever so often but not every weekend...But yet I'm wanting the most out of my car for streets...Would it be worth going w/ 4.10's or keep 3.55's? Will top end be slower w/ 4.10s?

sporadic, if you're thinkin about nitrous... keep the 4.10 because you'll run out of gear really quick with 4.56s or 4.30s and juice.

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/608.shtml This link is very helpful when deciding what gears you'd like for your application. I chose 4.30s after using the above linked calculator when I realized that I'd have to be pushing over 500RWHP before I'd need to shift into 5th before the traps. I will have to trap @ over 120MPH before I'll need 5th. W/ the 3.55s I was trapping @ 105. I don't expect more than 1MPH from the gears so there's plenty of room for HP improvement w/ my setup before I have trap problems.

I'm still trying to find out if 4.56 are even the gear I need. The car seems pretty darn stout with 4.10s. (see sig)

I've been thinking 4:10's or 4:30's. I want better 1/4 performance, but I like my highway and top end also. would I loose top end with the 4:30's? I like that fact that I can zing up to 140mph+.

You'll have to put the car into 5th, but I can zing 5th to 151 pretty quick with 4.30s. It's only sluggish from 125-130 in 5th then it ramps up.

sporadic I would say don't change a thing because you've got that car dialed in. Add more mods to up the power.

I don't honestly know @ what MPH the Mach reaches it's max speed/weight & resistance threshold but I guarantee you that it's higher w/ 4.30s than 3.55s because w/ 4.30s you've got more HP & TQ available to you since you're driving at a higher RPM. I only don't know cuz I've never taken mine above about 125. I know it'll go faster but that was w/ the 3.55s & I couldn't get enough road to be comfortable.
