DYNO RESULTS of 11 Machs in OKC

Today the 14th was our DYNO day. I am currently gathering the numbers from those who attended. Here is the post from the Southwest Regional Area thread, titled OKC AUG MEET:

And TORCH you did Phil. Great numbers and totally stock Mach!

We had a great turn-out today for doing the dynos at HP Racing in Oklahoma City. Here is their link http://www.hpracingokc.com/Dyno-Services.htm

The weather/temps/humidity etc were perfect. We had 12 Machs show up, 4 Comp Orange, 3 Oxford White, 2 DSGs, 1 Black, Torch Red and Azure Blue. We have yet to have a Yellow of any variety rally up. Someday?

The dyno pulls were done on a Mustang Dyno (an Eddy Current Chassis loading dyno).

The Lowest dyno reading was my wife's 03 Auto, K&N filter, Magnaflow Catback was 278.4 RWHP 330.4 RWTQ, Computer code LUF4, Sinclair 93 octane Fuel

The Highest dyno reading was Rex's, 03 5-Speed, Bassani Midlengths, Bassani Catted X, stock filters and stock catback. His numbers were 314 RWHP 363.7 RWTQ

Best BONE STOCK was the 04 Torch Red, 5-speed, 307 RWHP 351 RWTQ

I have sent each of the players an email requesting their info such as TIME of run, Best HP, Best TQ, Mileage, Mods and Octane fuel as well as brand used. Most everyone did at least two pulls and some of us did 4. My $900 worth of personal mods, ie., PHP Intake Spacer, K&N Aircharger and Magnaflow Catback did not show gains. In fact, the Diablo Sport Predator programer gave me 2 HP gain on my 3rd pull over the Stock program AND I lost two in torque over the STOCK TUNE. I definitely need the headers and I have them with a new catted H waiting to install. Perhaps then the numbers will come up.

Here is what mine did:
03 5-Speed, PHP Intake Spacer, K&N Aircharger, Magnaflow Catback and Diablo Sport Predator..............and I polished the inside of my upper intake. Computer code~ZYA2
296.4 HP @ 4750 RPM
348.5 Torque @ 4000
Sinclair 93 Octane,
Time of run: 2:03:59 PM

RESULT? Totally stock 04 Mach has higher numbers than mine with mods, HP and Torque! Once I get everyones data I will post all in one reply so people can see what has or has not been done to the car and the corresponding dyno results.

Are those numbers STD or SAE because the numbers for the bone stock sound like BS, even though it sounds great.
Not saying I don't believe you, but those numbers sound more like STD rather than SAE since they are always higher.

The one guy with the 314HP and the 363TQ should be pulling 11's easily if that is true. I had mine ona Mustang Dyno and I only got 266HP and 278TQ and I am pulling 12.7's. I too think those numbers have to be STD or something else was going on there. When was the last time the Dyno was calibrated? has it been raining alot there, because the rain effects the rollers in the ground alot on Mustang Dynos. I am just throwing stuff out there. I am in no way throwing up the BS Flag I am just a little sceptical.

YES, it has been raining here...........but not on the day of the dyno. It is a relatively new shop building. I too was amazed at the numbers, but 11 of us were there and 10 of the cars were dynoed. There were at least 40 pulls made within a 5 hour period and all were Mach 1s. I ASSUME it is calibrated.........they had a shop full of 7 & 8 second quarter milers and I think they know what they are doing. I intend to give them a call this morning and ask if something could be wrong. I honestly can't claim BS because I watched each and every run, all done the same, on the same computer, same dyno.

On the 27th of July I had a dyno done on a Dyno Jet with just a drop in K&N and Magnaflow catback. My numbers were 278 rwhp, 288 rwtq. Since then, I polished my upper intake, installed the PHP spacer and the K&N Aircharger as well as the Predator. With the results from Saturday I thought I should have left my car alone............but can't!

Started my header install yesterday and when ready to put the first one in realized the manufacturer sent the wrong header gaskets..........AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHH HHHH

Do you see any problem in using NEW stock gaskets with my headers (JBA Midlengths) or do I need a special type. The stock ones actually look better than the ones I received with my headers! Thanks for your input 99!

Although I'd LOVE to believe those numbers as-is,
they are either:

Standard (uncorrected).

Off due to either operator error or the dyno being out-of-calibration.

Some of the rwtq numbers achieved are as good as an '03/'04 Cobra.

The reason I asked about the rain is because the shop I go to has a Mustang Dyno and I am not sure if all the different types of dynos are affected but with the Mustang dyno being a Load Bearing Dyno it is thrown off a bit by the rain accumulating under the ground by the rollers. What were the weights that you guys inputed for your cars? Again, I am by far an expert but the Mustang Dyno has always shown lower numbers than a Dynojet and I can't remember too many putting down that much on a DynoJet. Also you CAN run a Mustang Dyno WITHOUT the Load Bearing Feature and it performs similiar to a Dynojet, Maybe that could be something you could ask the Dyno Operator.

Still I am not throwing up a Flag, just want to see what's up.

I was there Saturday. Don't know about water collecting around the rollers, the dyno is inside the shop. The numbers are uncorrected as told to me by the operator. The weight entered in the computer was 3750lb.

3750 weight with driver 8cyl/4.6 on the manuals
3650 weight with driver 8 cyl/4.6 on the autos

I called the shop and the numbers are STANDARD. No rain in the drums, recently calibrated, in fact they mop around the dyno area in lieu of forced air or sweeping. They did say that Saturday was a really good "air" day.

Those are amazing #'s, but I dont see how 10 of the MOST FREAKISH MACH's can all be in the same area. Something had to be off on the dyno.

A 5 speed Mach w driver does not weigh 3750. That would put the driver in 350lb plus range.

Mine weighed 3628 w/ 1/2 tank and me @ 250 ish plus 50lb sub box.

Those numbers seem way off.

Those are REALLY high even for STD #'s. I am thinking the dyno operator put the weight in wrong, because our Mach's dont weigh that much and the dyno drums werent reading for the correct weight of the Mach's, skewing the #'s to the +side.

What difference does the weight make?? If you put that same driveline, ie, motor, trans, rearend into a lighter or heavier vehicle it doesen't change the amount of horsepower being delivered to the ground.

Just taking a guess on why the numbers were so abnormally high?

Sorry if that appeared to be a smart a** remark, it wasn't meant to be. I just couldn't think of how the weight of the car would make a difference.

Because it is a Load Bearing Dyno and the weight will make a difference, but in your defense it won't make the difference that your numbers show. I would guess that they had more then just the weight element messed up on the dyno runs. No Flames at ya.

I have all the bolt-on except headers, water pump, and chip. I only dynoed 284 hp and 290 torque. Mine must be the corrected #'s.

Numbers seem real high on the above Machs

I just chiped and put my car on the dyno today. That was with Mike Murillo and I am sure most of you know who that is. With the lists of mods below I pulled 302.5 RWHP, and 322.5 RWTQ, that was in 100 degree weather and 90% humidity, in ideal conditions, maybe, just maybe would hit 10 more on the ground, but that is it and probably a pretty high estimate. And no where near the numbers I see on top. But it did Dyno 286 with just exhaust. Just my results

What I learned from that day was that most of the mods are worthless. Forget the numbers, what is important is that there were very little differences in the numbers from modded to unmodded cars. The predator tuner only added 2 Hp to one car. it can vary that much or more between pulls. It appears that the only exhaust mod that makes any difference is changing headers.
I stand by my previous statement "Louder doesn't mean faster."

If you must mod, forget the B.S. spacers. CAI, etc. Just get the blower or a turbo.

Nobody flamed anybody here. We were just politely asking questions and trying to see why there were 10 machs in a row that posted numbers that some of us will never see with alot of mods.
