This might be a dumb question but look at my pics. Why the difference in RPM's at 150? I was in fifth gear and everything is stock.

No. Was the speedo in the above pic corrected? I forgot to ask that.

Speedo should be correct in my shot. At that speed who knows how accurate it really is. I do know that in town it checks accurate on the speed limit - radar signs.......

Thank you for the shot,

that settles it. The ring and pinion are going to 4:10's and 31 Auburn.

I was worried about losing alot of top end. Thats faster than I will ever do on the highway.

Thumbs up

And the 4.30s raise the 70mph rpm to about 2400, right? I think we are going to go with those. Can someone confirm this for me, and how big of a hit does the gas mileage take?

Awesome pic.

I dont remember the exact rpm at 70, but 2400 would be real close. The gas mileage isnt that bad if you drive conservatively, it still gets over 20 mpg on the highway if I set the cruise at 70-75 mph. If, however, you drive like in the picture, you can watch the gas hand fall

I think the exact RPM at 70 is just a nudge below 2400 with my 4.10's (2375ish?). When I drove your car, Joe, I noticed the RPM at 70 was right at 2500. I just happened to make a mental note because I was noticing the difference between yours and mine....

In my case, the gas mileage took more of a hit from the fact that I can't keep my foot off it than from the gear change itself...

For all out there...I just drove home today from Tulsa...370 miles on the Interstate. I have 4.10 gears, driving 75 MPH avg, with A/C ON averaged 26 MPG, no cruise control. Also, RPM's looked like this...70 mph = 2400 rpm, 80 mph = 2700 rpm , 90 mph 3000 rpm. Hope this helps.

I usually drive about 110-115mph on the highways here.

But I don't think I could get up to 145+mph without really sweaty palms and flashing lights behind me.
