Installed Kook's L/T's
Well, I spent this past Saturday installing the Kook's Headers and X-pipe. I have to say it is loud with the SLP cat-back. The difference in power is easily felt through the powerband. I can't wait to see what it looks like on the dyno. I also installed the MRT CAI and the PHP intake spacer. The install on the headers is time consuming, but well worth the effort.

I didn't drop the K-member. I did unbolt the two motor mount nuts and lift the engine slightly. Not that it really helped much. I think the most difficult part of the instal was the **** starter. It took me over an hour to get the middle and top bolts back in.

Where did you get the headers from? Also how much did they cost, if you don't mind.

The Kooks are individual primaries w/slip fit collectors. The install took me about 9 hours..but I know it was done right. It was well worth the effort from a performance standpoint. The car pulls much harder than before. Once I get it tuned I am looking for mid 12's. Also., the headers are not coated. They are made of SS and need no coating. They are supposed to make more power than coated headers. We'll see.

the last set of kooks i had on my 347 i vowed never to run slip fits again on a street car.

There are no leaks. The slip fits have been improved over their last design. They now have four bolts holding them instead of two. My friend's Mach has had them on for about a year and no problems. Kook's are the way to go.

Do the headers in combination with the slp cat-back cut down on some of the popping?.. like the high pitched tone after 2700 or so RPM. Did the sound get higher or deeper?? like smoothen it out? And i bet your MACH rips now!

I also have the Kooks LT's and yes the top starter bolt is a bit** but well worth it. Install time was around 8 hrs. I'm running the LT's, x-pipe no cats and magnaflow's, nothing but compliments on my exhaust

With a good tune you should be able to get by. I have passed emission tests before without any cats. In Michigan they quit doing the testing in the 1980's

I had my 5-gas on the Mach with the L/T's and it will pass NJ emissions. And the cats are blown out on it. They will be warrantied by Kooks as soon as I can get them back to them.
The car is quiet at idle and even at 1500, but once she gets around the 2500 mark it begins to sing. Anything over 3500, well, don't be behind me.

I'm pretty sure it was JDM Engineering in New Jersy for the LT's and the X. LT's and no cats with Magnaflow cans, starts sounding serious around 3K.

When the Mach's first came out we did not have many options as far as the LT's. I think I paid around 600 for the jet hot coated tubes and 200 for the X. The install wasn't that bad and not having to jack up the motor or remove anything major made the single tubes well worth it. So far no leaks but I did have to remove 2 tubes on the passenger side to get the trans out.
