Spoiler Re-Paint

I need to repaint my rear spoiler, is there an actual paint code for this? Is a general "Satin Black?" I've also seen reference to a "semi-gloss" black. Can't find an actual color or code.

Re: Spoiler Re-Paint

ive never seen an actual name or code but I would have to think a satin finish would be closer to what we have.

Re: Spoiler Re-Paint

That's a great question. I've wondered the same thing for years. It seems like there's even a slight texture in it too.

Does anyone know of a source for a touch up bottle in this color? I've searched Google but not coming up with anything.

I went to the auto paint shop to buy just that but my friend talked me into using
SEM 39143 trim paint. Comes in a spray can $15 and looks great. best part is if it gets scratched , I can just sand and respray. ill try and post a pick but yall have all seen a flat black spoiler before. LOL

Re: Spoiler Re-Paint

I'd like to see how it turns out man, I just pulled my spoiler to polish the rest of the trunk lid and was wondering what to do about the spoiler...time has definitely taken its toll

Re: Spoiler Re-Paint

There was no need for primer, all the original paint was intact. I just washed it with dawn and a scouring pad. Prep solve , 400 grit paper, tact rag and shoot.
Can anyone tell me if it looks like the original ? or too dull.

Re: Spoiler Re-Paint

It does appear to be flatter than original. I'll see if I can find an older picture of mine to compare it to.

It is a little closer to flat than satin. Not too much though, IMO. Mine might be a tad shinier than it should because I polished it with my buffer.
