32v engine

I thought I had read right after the release of the Mach 1 that the 32v engine had a special intake track that at engine speeds lower than 3,500rpm only one intake valve was used, above that speed both intake valves were utilized. Is that accurate? Is there any documentation on how this works?

Re: 32v engine

Ive never seen that about our cars, sounds more like the older cobras (96-98?) that IMRCs which had butterflies between the intake and heads and would open up after a certain rpm

yes...Ford made one...was like 4K too...made out of magnesium. FR500 intake. It had a runner control set by engine speed where butterflies would open at set rpm and full open. giving a best of both worlds type of intake...long and short runner...
you can goggle fr500 intake for a ton more info.

But had nothing to do with the intake valves.

Same idea as FR500.

Correct. Had nothing to do with the valves. It was all in the intake manifold.

Re: 32v engine

Just read about it, that is one of the coolest intakes I've seen, I also noticed BBK had a version at one time. Love to give one a go on the dyno.

I remember seeing guys running Aviator intakes. I think they had the same type of set up as the FR500. But I remember it being tall. So it never caught on.
