Thinking about trading the Mach

I'm very strongly leaning towards de-modding my car and trading it in for a 12-13 Boss 302. Any one have any first hand experience with the Boss cars?

I've absolutely loved them since they came out and always said that is the only newer car I would consider getting rid of the Mach for and I'm in a position I can make it happen now.

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

If you are asking for votes, here's mine. 2013 SBY Laguna Seca only 747 made. Of course a Black one would look better fully detailed. Look on cars.com there are some low mileage ones out there.

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

Trade in? Why? So you can get a fraction of the value of your Mach1?

Just buy the Boss. Then, if you really must sell the Mach1 then sell it your self.

You may regret selling the Mach1 later

Only complaints on the boss I've seen are high RPM shifting related

I was reading about that also. Some people were saying an aftermarket shifter and brackets helped a lot.

I'll prob end up selling it myself for that reason. I'm going to pull a lot of my mods off to sell to recoup some extra cash too.

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

The boss is one truly awesome ride. You don't have to manhandle it as much as the mach. The shifter and clutch are lighter, handling is significantly better, the ride is better (manually adjustable shocks/struts are standard), brakes are worlds better, etc.

The power curve never drops off. I have never bounced the mach off the rev limiter because the power falls off and you can feel it. I did hit the rev limiter in the Boss a couple times before I got used to it. It pulls harder and harder the higher you rev it, all the way to redline. You do shift a bit more as a result of increased power and closer gear ratios, but I personally prefer it. The engine is so well balanced and secured in the engine bay that if you have a friend rev the motor while you watch with the hood open, it won't rock one bit (which wouldn't be ideal shaker set up though ).

I'm not sure how many of you have ever driven any BMW M3's or any of the straight 6 BMW's for that matter, but engine smoothness is on par with those (which is seriously impressive for anything, particularly for an American v8). I plan on selling the mach and picking up my father's Boss when he decides to pick up a GT350 (if I can scrape the cash together of course ).

My advice, I love the mach to death and it will hurt to part with it. It will really hurt. But, I don't think I would miss it very long if I had a Boss.

The Boss is, and will always be, the epitomy of the original mustang set up. Front mounted v8 and SRA. This makes it an instant classic.

If you don't like the red accent wheels, the 13's were black. I'd much rather the 2012 body over 2013 personally.

Right now that is the only thing I would sell my Mach 1 for. I either want a 13 Grabber blue or green Boss. I prefer the stripes and tailights on the 13 myself. The 12 LS Boss is a nice car though. I'd wait till the GT350 drops though. Might make more become available and drive the price down a little.

That is all great news for me then. A lot I didn't know about since I've never had a chance to drive one yet. I was doing a lot more reading today and the trans seems to be the only frequent issue people are having. I'm still set on it though.

I actually like the red accent wheels a lot for some reason lol.

I would love to have a LS model, but they are selling for a good bit more than a standard Boss 302 so unless I find a crazy deal I probably won't be getting a LS

There was a comp orange (or whatever they call it) out here in Indy that had around 11k miles that was for sale for $37k in November. It sold pretty quick too. I love the LS's, but they'll be so much money. They had a black one here going for $57k, but I don't know the miles on it. I believe it sold quick too lol.

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

Gotta have it green is my vote. I would love to have one, they are awesome cars. If you can sell the mach and easily afford the Boss, I'd do it as well.

If you don't plan to road race it though, I'd get an 11+ 5.0 with an auto and boost it.

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

What's a good bit more?

A search within 500 miles of me shows if you're not picky on color, there are LS mixed in with base Bosses. Of course, are you also willing to accept a stiffer ride(although I think the LS are adjustable) and a 2 seat mustang?

That's the conundrum to me with the Cobra R, Boss LS, and now the GT350R. Unless you're a mustang fanboi, their performance/value usually doesn't make sense VS a 1 year old vette. The Boss 302 does look good though...

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

Keep em both (Specially if you want your Mach to be a Garage queen, my mach hasn't really seen daylight since the purchase of the Boss)

The Boss has so much to offer over the Mach but it should seeing how its newer.
The thing I like most about the Boss is the amount of room inside, I have always found the Mach to be tight.
The Mach has a MUCH better Stereo....They should have just deleted the Stereo in the boss lol
Mach is cheaper to service (Boss holds ALOT of oil and its expencive)

I have never driven either the Mach or the Boss the way they are meant to be driven so I cant really judge the performace or handling.

Really hard to compare a 03-04 car to a 12-13 car.....but good luck with your choice....I am sure you will be VERY happy with the Boss

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

I had an '03 and then an '04 Mach 1. Traded the '04 in for a '13 Boss. I loved both Mach's but there is no comparison. The Boss is in a league of its own; it certainly separates the men from the boys (no offense folks). If you can swing it financially, go for it. Garage space kept me from having both of them. No regrets!

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

Have not spent a lot of time in a boss, but have spent some. One of my best friends has one.
He had the issue with the clutch releasing at high rpm...he fixed it...something about removing a third spring on the pedal assembly..

I can say it is the only car in the last few years I would consider over the mach.

The engine just keeps revving...the car just goes where you tell it to...no muss, no fuss...it just keeps on turning...its amazing...

We go to local car shows though occasionally, and my Car gets a lot more attention than his boss... its kinda funny...our cars are "old school" now...

It is an amazing car, and definitely one I would like to get eventually

Re: Thinking about trading the Mach

I bought a new 2012 Boss302. It was by far the best performing car I ever owned. It had the best combination of power and handling from an unmodified car. I sold it after only 13 months due to family reasons and got almost all the money back I paid. I still look at them when they come up in my area and see they're still going for closer to new pricing. I'll have another some day...
