Exotic Driving

Hey all, my wife and I just got back from florida where we stayed at walt Disney world. I got to do the Exotic Driving Experience at Walt Disney World Speedway. I drove the Ferrari 458 Italia!! It was one of the most amazing things I have ever gotten to do. The car was amazing, it had boat loads of power and it stuck to the road like no car I have ever driven! Here is a link to the video I got from them. Has anyone else ever done this?

Re: Exotic Driving

Haven't done it yet, but wish I had done it when these programs started. One company had a Ford GT at the time it was actually pretty reasonable. Gotham has a stop in New Orleans that I thought about attending, but I'll look into after the 50th.

Re: Exotic Driving

Pretty cool. When the wife and I went down to the Biltmore one year we did the Land Rover Experiance, it was pretty wild what you could do with one.

At the 9min mark or whatever it is, "This thing is so awesome". LOL

You gave that instructor a nice smooth ride. I really liked how he was actually helping you get up to speed instead of holding you back.

Re: Exotic Driving

It was an awesome experience. the car was completely awesome, it was the greatest car I have ever driven and probably ever will though my mach comes in a close second. I couldn't ever own a Ferrari like that though. I would always be terrified that I would get hit by someone. ok what am I saying I would totally have one of those for a weekend driver, not in Arkansas cause their roads are really crappy, which is probably why I don't see any nice cars like that here. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone and they are all over the country.

Re: Exotic Driving

Awesome, I would also love to drive a GT40, the baddest car I've ever been in was a Pantera with a 550hp Roush. I was gonna buy it till I found out I couldn't fit in it. But it was amazing how that thing would handle curves. The dude selling it pulls out of his drive on a two lane and just hammers it into a curve going I don't know how fast but he kept accelerating through the curve laughing his *** off.

It scared the **** out of me because I didn't think any car could handle that.

Re: Exotic Driving

There is also a place is Vegas that does this. It was like 600 bucks for a few laps.. I figured it would take that just to get a food feel on what to do.. Then id want to do it again!

Re: Exotic Driving

Ya it is the same company. I managed to get it for a little less because I am in the military and I was one of the last ones of the day. I paid for 8 laps and ran 11. If you are familiar with big power it really doesn't take long to get a feel for the car. It also helps if you have ever done any kind of SCCA stuff like autocross or anything. it took me a couple laps to get used to it then I was able to start pushing it. no matter how hard I pushed it just did what I wanted it to do. it was awesome.

Re: Exotic Driving

Looks like I'm doing this next month at NOLA Raceway in New Orleans. I chose the Gallardo, but was still disappointed that nothing has a three pedal set up in them. Still excited about doing it!

Re: Exotic Driving

you will not be disappointed!! it was a great experience and I will remember it forever. Ya all the newer expensive cars have the dual clutch setups. If they let you use the gearbox take the opportunity. They let me shift the 458 and I liked being able to do that instead of just letting the car do it.

Re: Exotic Driving

Thanks for the tip! Anything else you can think of, let me know! The track I'm running is outstanding, I've been there for a Ferarri event and a friend of mine runs his Boss 302s ( Laguna Seca and an 'S' model) there and has a blast.

Re: Exotic Driving

Oh one other thing! try to get a session at the end of the day, you may get a few more laps out of it that way. I was scheduled for 8 laps but ended up doing 11 because it was the end of the day and I was the last one in the car. if you get it in the afternoon they tend to give you a little more because they don't have people waiting in line. So try to get it in the afternoon if you can.

Re: Exotic Driving

Great idea, except I'm already signed up for a late morning drive. I was supposed to go with some other people, but everyone has pretty well backed out on me. I'm going to have some fun!

Cool Re: Exotic Driving

Cool car and I am sure you had fun. I qualified back in the 70's in a funny car and that was a ride.

Re: Exotic Driving

Had a friggin' exhausting blast! Wore me out bad. I opted for the three lap ride along before my drive and was glad I did, I learned quite a bit about the car and the track that helped me during my actual drive. My instructor was using the paddle shifts and this thing launched like a jet from a carrier. It rained early and affected our line and what we could and couldn't do, but did stop anyone from having a great time.
I also learned that Italian cars are made for really short people. I am not one of those. Next time I'll go for the McLaren or the GT-R. The Lambo and the Ferrari are off my short list for when I win the powerball.

Re: Exotic Driving

I've got a photo they took, I'll scan it and post it up later. It was a black LP-560-4, they also had an earlier 2wd Gallardo as well. with the inclimate weather I was happy to be in the awd version. It was faster on the track as was the GT-R and the R8 they had there.
