Texas Mile

Anyone ever consider running an event like the Texas Mile? I don't see many Mach 1's or Cobras there. Tons of Shelbys. Here is a video of my most recent trip with the GT500...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYaQkxiQEdM

Now that car is retired from the Mile and I'm looking to get the Mach 1 ready for action. If anyone has done high speed events in a SN95, I'm open to suggestions on suspension / aero mods for downforce and stability. Looking to run in the 180-190 range.

Re: Texas Mile

GFeakin awesome, would love to see a Mach do this..any mods to the front end when you made this run(blocked off)?? Looks so easy, testament to how well the car was setup.

I taped over the fog lights and had other parts of the front taped (without restricting cooling)... But most of it blew off on my first pass. The fog lights stayed taped. It was just too humid for the tape to stick. There is tape that will stick, but you wouldn't believe the price.

I'm thinking about taking a 2.3L TVS (Like the '13/'14 Shelby) and putting it on my 11:1 5.4L Papitto engine in the Mach. Otherwise... A LOT of nitrous. We will see...

Re: Texas Mile

I have thought about changing gears and running it. Then I see cars run like yours and think I would just be wasting time for others any way it's only about a 45 minute drive from my house so maybe one day.

Last year I was in line not too far behind the Ford GT that ran 278mph... There is always someone faster. It's about hanging out with car people and running new personal bests. I can tell you my next time down the track will be slower than my last pass in the Shelby, but it will still be a rush. I hope to see you out there in October.

Re: Texas Mile

I wish they had an event like this near Chicago. Or anywhere in the midwest for that matter. Would prob do it just to mess around, but it sounds like a blast
