Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

To all my friends here at the M1R. I don't know how to say this but ......I'm in a Hotel in Philly watching the Super Bowl BUT I'm NOT here for that. The real reason I am here is that I was diagnosed back in October with Prostate Cancer. Tomorrow I am having a operation to remove it. I am posting this to help raise awareness and to encourage men to get checked. They say it is early and we all know early detection is the key to overcoming cancer! I know there are many out there keeping me in their thoughts and prayers. Hopefully everything will go well. See everyone on the other side.....the 50th and Carlisle !

Re: Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

Sorry to hear this and good luck with your operation.

BTW I found out about 6 months ago my uncle has inoperable prostate cancer and they have given him less than 5 years to live.

Not looking forward to the screening, but so necessary now days to catch it early.

Prayers to you! Just last week I had my annual physical and always get the digital and PSA screening. If they caught it early you can plan on driving that Mach for many years! Good luck to you tomorrow!

Re: Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

Sorry to hear this, Kurt but hopefully it was caught early and can be taken care of completely. You've gone through some trials and tribulations this last decade. Hopefully you will come out of this as well as last time and continue to terrorize the young kids on the street with your Mach 1. You KNOW you're in the thoughts and prays of all your M1R Brothers and we will most definitely be looking forward to seeing your smiling face at Charlotte and Carlisle.

Re: Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

Sorry to hear that Curt. My uncle was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer back in the spring. He finished his Chemo and is now waiting to hear if it got it all.

Praying for a quick and speedy recovery. Figure the odds are in your favor since that is how you drive. LOL

Re: Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

Early detection is key. At 37 I had a colonoscopy and they found a polyp. Because of my families medical history I was instructed by my doctor to have one.

I wish you the best and hope everything goes well .

Re: Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

Sorry to hear about your prostate issues and good luck with the surgery.

Getting old is a *****. I was diagnosed with prostate issues and am being treated for high PSA's. Doctor has it under control so far. My doctor with his dry humor said most men die "with" prostate problems rather than "from" prostate problems; meaning you can still live a long time.

Re: Once again, This gettin Old Sucks!

sorry to hear, hope all goes well.

My grandfather had it as well, he opted for the implanted seeds, in hindsight he probably wished he had it removed - lots of issues with scar tissue and such.

And not to try and scare you or anything, he passed 10+ years later from single cell carcinoma. Its very very rare, rare enough they don't know if prostate removal vs radiation seed implants has any affect on who ends up with it but the common thread is men that have had prostate cancer. I would at least ask about it.
