approaching 80k miles... what should be checked/replaced/upgraded

Tune up is on schedule but just want to be sure I get all the fluids done as well.

My car is all stock only added exhaust. I only have about $1000 to spend to keep this bad boy in DD mode. My main focus is to keep it simple with a little extra in the performance area, not necessarily speed, but overall longevity. Also, would like to know if there are any OEM parts that I should try to stick with and which ones I should definitely upgrade while im at it.

I'm sure upgraded is probably everyones favorite... so lets hear it!

80k? sounds like it's time for the rear diff to be changed to the 4.10:1 gear ratio.

K&N filter was put in at first oil change according to the previous owner... he was pretty good about writing everything down into the service manual.

it is a 5 speed and I am planning on taking it to addictionmotorsports.net (<~~~free advertising) for all the work next week. i hope they can provide the best parts out there. thanks to JeromeMach1 for the refferal.

My rear differential does have a small leak so I will be getting that serviced as well maybe upgraded if it is worth it. Is "ford racing" the recommended brand for gears, COPs, and what not or do you guys have better options for those parts?

I suggest ford racing cops/gears & nothing else. I have tried accel coils and gms coils and they were all garbage. Direct oem replacement or ford racing is the best http://www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-coilset-4valve.html

So, I am going to get the rear fixed at the shop tomorrow for sure, but i was thinking...

What can be done at home and what should be left to the pros? I am no mechanic but anything that is plug and play i can do...

hopefully i get some opinions before i drop off my car...
