Magnapack/MRT H-pipe

Does anyone have the magnapack cat-back and the mrt catted h-pipe
I have already pulled the trigger on the magnapack, but
don't know whether to go with magnaflow x or the
Mrt I have only owned older mustangs up until this
point and love the muscle car sound if that would help the judgement

Well I had the Packs and the MRT O/R H on my 2001 GT. It sounded real good at idle and anything above 3000rpm, but the transition from 1500 rpm-3000rpm there was this 'Blat' sound. It is hard to explain and a lot of people with O/R x's and H's said this is normal with all non-catted midpipes.

I still have the midpipe, and I just put a new set of Packs on the Mach 1. I might go get a set of Carsound high flow cats and have them welded in and give that a shot.

The fit and finish on the MRT H was perfect. It is the only stainless H out there still (I believe). It bolted right up with no difficulties.

I kicked the same question around, I decided to buy just the magnapack, and not do the X or H. The only reason, is that the catted X and H pipes I've seen installed, hang just a little lower than the stock H pipe. I am completely happy with the fit/finish and sound of the "packs" The only thing I would change is the tips, I like the rolled tips better.

And your car sounds great! Actually I think the plainer 3 1/2" tips set our cars apart a little. I'm satisfied with them, or at least satisfied enough not to be interested in spending a bunch of money chamging them out.

Hey sinisterblk I have the same question...about the MRT H w/ cats. People have told me that it'll give me that big block, muscle car kinda sound. But I'm still looking before I purchase anything. Are flowmaster delta 40s any good?? I was told that the MRT H-pipe w/ delat 40s would five me that deep sound I want...but I'm not sure..??? Suggestions anyone????

Delta 40's

I currently only have the Delta 40's welded in on an otherwise stock exhaust and love the sound. Now leaning towards the MRT cated H for a little more power.

I would suggest going ahead and install the MagnaPak. This is what I did and the sound is awsome. I will probably change out the cats but I want to hear some set ups in person before I make the final decision. The catbacks are the hardest to change out and align.

If you do go ahead and make both changes let me know how it sounds and if you will be in Nashville, I would love to hear your set up.

You will love the Magnapak sound and the gurgle on down shifts is just a thrill. You will probably turn the radio off just to listen to the exhaust, I do! No sweeter music!

Hi all,

Not sure if the issue would be the same on the Mach 1 versus a GT or if the brand makes a difference but...

On my 2000 GT I had put in a BBK Off road X pipe and Flowmasters American Thunder series catback (50 series mufflers I believe). Well... sound was great (loud and proud) except at around 2500 rpm where there was not enough pressure and the whole thing went brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtttttttttt (hard to describe but it sounded awful - think ricer fart can). I called Flowmaster and the said their system was designed for cat's. So I know with the Mach, whatever I put in, the X or H has to have cats.

btw... fit and finish of both the BBK and the Flowmasters was great - super easy install. As for power, never dynoed but it dropped the GT 3 tenths in the quarter mile.

Sound byte on the MRT website almost has me convinced to go with that setup (MRT H with Magnapacks).

later,

I have the Delta flow 40 series mufflers welded in, and I just installed the MRT-O/R H-Pipe. The MRT H-Pipe fit & finish are excellent. The MRT H-Pipe really compliments the flowmaster mufflers, and the sound is Awesome!

I don't know about Magnapacks but Scott Hoag talked me into going with the MRT Catted H Pipe with my Bassani Cat-back. He said MRT installed this combination on a customers '00 GT 'vert and it sounded very mean (muscle car tone). We'll find out tomorrow how it sounds on the Mach as I have an appointment in the morning to get them installed.

I'm thinking about adding the MRT Catted H to my Deltaflow 40's. What change did it have to the sound and the low end performance?

Thanks

How was the sound with the bassani/MRT set up?

Well,

I just got my car back and it sounds AWESOME!!!!! Nice Deep rumble. Not loud in the car at all at cruising speeds. Get on it and man does it sound nice. I had my exhaust guy go blazing up and down the road in it and it sounds great. I can't wait to get it redynoed. BTW for what the shop charged me there is no way I would have attempted this job, plus I got my old pipes back in one piece. I may not be back for a while I'm going out drivin'!!

I installed the O/R MRT-H Pipe. Not sure how the catted version sounds. The O/R H really wakes up the Exhaust system ( Its Loud) but has that deep sound, I'm very happy with it. No Dyno #'s yet, but I do not feel a loss in low end performance.
