Thumbs up Englishtown Raceway to open Feb 28th - time for Mach 1 meet up?

From their website:

Quote:
"The 2004 Raceway Park season officially starts when the drag racing season fires up on Saturday & Sunday, February 28 & 29. Billed as a "winter warm up", the weekend will feature both muffled and unmuffled racing. On Saturday, February 28, the "winter warm up" will offer a domestic and import test and tune session starting at 9 a.m. for muffled vehicles. Then on Sunday, February 29, both muffled and unmuffled racers can participate in the second race day of the "winter warm up" for a test and tune session offering racers three runs for just $30. Start up time for muffled vehicles is 9 a.m. and for unmuffled vehicles at 10 a.m. Once the opener weekend is over, racers can look forward to racing every weekend thereafter, plus the start of unmuffled and muffled time trials on Wednesday nights on March 3 and muffled Friday night street night events, which get underway on March 5."
Question now is how many of you guys are going? Time for a Mach 1 meet up? Meet up - then hooters?

Sounds like a good plan Mike. Do you think you will have purchased your Mach by then?

Holy crap Marlon - I haven't seen you on here in a while. How's it going - I am hoping sometime in late March - I found a Azure '04 auto in NJ that has my name all over it - calling me - ahhhh - they quoted me for $25.8K. Hopefully this job I am interviewing for on Thursday works out- I only got 6 years box office experience - position is "Box Office Manager" (looks like a shoe in) located right where I am working part time in the evening - would work out really well if I could do both jobs. Well another week - another interview - one has to work out soon

Well Mach or no Mach - I will meet up that day, I'll even give you guys a lauh as I take my '98 Kia Sephia down the track - I'm predicting it'll do around 18 seconds for the 1/4 mile - which is just sad -> LOL  .

- Mike

Hey Mike,

Hope things work out with the job interview. I've been laying low, lurking here and there. I am still out for my eye injury, hope to get back to work by the end of March.

My mach just turned 1100 miles.

see you on the 28th.

Feb 28th - Mach 1 meet up - Englishtown Raceway
All welcome to meet up.
Hooters afterwards?

Now who's planning on meeting up on the 28th?

btw.... Maybe come April/May do a Mach 1 vs GTO day. Would have to hold out on a GTO vs Mach 1 day until then so more owners get their GTO - GM seems to be having a ton of trouble delievering them Should be fun.

Marlon - goodluck with that eye injury.

I am in for a meet if I can get off work that day. If not, I get out at 2pm. Might have two other Machs coming with me. Email me with a time and place to meet if I am too late for the track.

Good question... Track opens at 9am, I am guessing for some that'd be hard - what does everyone think about 12? At least then people who want to come a little later in the afternoon could come and we'd still be there.

Here's the update (Sunday evening)

ok here's the details about next Saturday:

Saturday February 28th, @ 12pm Englishtown - Mach 1 meet up

As of now, the weather forcast for that day is "Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s." IMHO that's perfect weather.

FYI - From what I've heard on the registry, IF YOU ARE 17, you are going to need a signed parental consent form if you wish to race. I believe they're available on the Englishtown website - http://www.etownraceway.com/

Also - who's interested in coming down to Englishtown?

I am not sure where we're exactly we're all meeting up in there yet - but my cell # is 917-974-6160. I'm gonna get there at about 11:30-11:40am, I know there are a few people from the registry interested and some who are coming. I'm gonna have my fully charged up digital camera there - so there'll be a lot of pics taken for here and the registry if you guys want. My email address is MikeOpenGL@msn.com.

I'll try to get an exact place in there that we'll meet up, if not - just look for a bunch of Mach's. Also, if anyone else wants to come if you got any other Mustang's or are a Mach fan waiting to get your Mach (like me) - all are welcome to come. It should be a really fun day, the weather looks like it's going to be great on Saturday, so it'll be a lot of fun.

I forgot to mention that on Saturday it is a test and tune day at Englishtown.

Last time I was there they required a helmet so to all going.....
Don't forget your helmet otherwise you have to rent one of the house helmets.......which could be a bit funky.
Hopefully I will be there.

You"ll need a snell 90 or better (higher #) helmet, but if your renting bring some Lysol and bomb that puppy.

Snell 90? How and where do we check that - just curious

edit: I looked around inside the helmet - it says "1980" on the Snell sticker - it's a DOT approved motorcycle helmet - would this be an approved helmet for racing?

This is my helmet:

If you plan on racing - yeah you need a helmet. But I am probably gonna chill out in the Pits and meet up with the member from here, shoot some pics, and hang out - I don't have my Mach yet - and if I am itching to race, I'd be racing my Kia Sephia, which would probably generate some laughs - LOL
But seriously, the invitation is open to all - Mach, no Mach, stang or no stang - your a Mach owner or fan - come on down.

First off the DOT sticker is worthless I can buy them by the handfull at most cycle shops. The 1980 means it's a snell 80 Helmet so it's not NHRA approved. You can bring it and see if they will let it go. I don't think that the helmets they rent are the proper snell rating either.
I may be going to the meet, but chances are I am not racing. Would be nice to meet some of you guys and have a face to go with the screen name. See you there.

You may see this face (old) but it's a face. I may come up on Saturday just to meet up with MACH1 owners. I need to "GET THE MOTOR RUNNING AND GET OUT ON THE HIGHWAY". Lyrics from an old 60's tune. Funny........still sounds great today.
