You have 6k to spend

So there's a bearing loose and the car isn't drivable. It's income tax time and I should be getting around 6k or more but for now I'll keep it at 6k. The car is a 5spd with UPR o/r X, MAC cat back, built rear with 4.10s.

With 6k what would you do to the car and labor will be added because I can't do it myself. Just me dreaming but I want forged rods and pistons, comp cams 106100s, teksid block, "used" procharger kit, aluminum driveshaft, Cai, MAF, fuel system, and a tune (obviously). Like I said A man can dream lol.

Edit- I'm sure some of you will ask what I want to do with the car or my goals. Well if I can swing all those mods I listed(highly unlikely) then my goal is 550+rwhp. Without the procharger kit it's more like 350. It's my DD and I will race it at the strip, so I want a fun street strip car.

Re: You have 6k to spend

well if its a street strip car and also a DD then you better bullet proof the drive train before adding hp cause you need to race and get to work after the weekend racing. just my 2 cents

Re: You have 6k to spend

i would build the rear end with 31 spline stuff, 3.73's and get a built trans with 26 spline input shaft then buy an eaton swap or procharger. rock that for a year and next tax season build the motor.

now when you say bearing. what bearing are you talking about?

Re: You have 6k to spend

It will cost around 6k just to get a procharger and have it professionally installed and tuned. It cost me 10k parts and labor just for a built motor out the door. 6k doesn't do what it used to do now days.

Rear end is already built. Contemplating doing an Eaton swap. Sorry I should have been more specific. There's a knocking sound coming from the area of where my oil pan is.

Re: You have 6k to spend

First off I wish I was getting 6k back lol but anyways if I was getting that much back and my rear end was already built i'd add some money to it and get this!!!

Re: You have 6k to spend

With 6k I would rebuild the engine or buy a crate engine or find a good used engine.. 6k will fly unfortunately if you knew how to do the work it would save you a ton of $$$

Trust me I wish everyday I had the tools and knowledge to breakdown and build up a mod motor. It'll come in time though. I was gonna pick up a teksid for a little over $200 and get some forged rods and pistons.

Re: You have 6k to spend

First, I'd have someone pull the motor and see what's salvageable. You can still supercharge it without forged internals, then just forge it next year. Run 6-8psi and you should be fine. However, that costs money in the first place just to check what's usable.

If it's not astronomical, you can find a lightly used supercharger on the cheap and install it. Just be aware, that's not long term, as if your aiming for 550whp you'll need forged internals and might as well add a t56 to that for good measure.

If there's some serious damage, expect to use that money just to rebuild the engine or find another assembled engine. LSx swaps can run you under 6 grand too

$6k is like a rebuilt bottom end with 106100's and maybe some spray and other bolt ons

Re: You have 6k to spend

I spent 300 on some cobra rods, 600 on pistons, 400ish on machine work to the block, and a few hundred on the rest for the short block. I don't see how you could spend 6k on a short block.

Re: You have 6k to spend

With 6k where I live,..you can do the machine work, buy a stroker kit to make it 5.0,add the 106100's,..and have enough money left to fill the tank..
