Upgrading the 4.6 Mach 1 motor with the 2011-2013 5.0 who's done this successfully

Considering upgrading the drive train already ten years old with the new 2011-2013 GT or Boss drive train what work and costs are ahead?

it sounds like theres decent deals on stuff out of wrecked cars with wiring kits, transmissions etc. If buying new youll need the standalone harness/computer kit

youll have to convert from electronic to power steering

find out if our trans will bolt to that motor, if not whats required to make a GT trans fit in our trans tunnel and shifter setups.

Id imagine your gonna need some custom headers, I know they have em for fox bodies, not sure how interchangeable.

motor mounts may be a concern

not sure on how to make the Mach cluster still work

Use the 5.0 computer to control the engine and trans and use the stock computer to provide the signals to the dash.

Check with Kurgan Motorsports for all the parts needed like headers, hydraboost brackets and alernator hardware.

S&R Performance did this to a bullitt. The had to use an aftermarket k-member, custom headers, custom oil pan to fit the k-member, custom power steering bracket (which they machine and sell), and a lot of re-wiring to get all the electronics and hvac to work. It's a big project with a lot of little things...so make sure you are ready for it.

It would be a lot cheaper and you could get stronger parts by just building a new 4.6 and getting a new transmission. IMO at least.
