FR500 cams FORD GT CAMS

Is there a difference between the FR500 cams and FORD GT CAMS? I want to install a set in my stock mach 1 and I know it requires springs, but which springs would work? anything like comp or manly for a 4v will be fine with the cams?

They are not the same.

FR500:
int.....212deg dur, .472 lift
exh....208 deg dur, .472 lift
109 LSA

GT500 specs as tested:
int....189 deg dur, .424"
exh...190 deg dur, .448"
109LSA

The Fr500 cams require springs, the GT500 cams do not.

The FR500 cams are a great set of cams for a street car.

The livernois drop in springs are the cheapest option.

I found the FORD GT super cams on MMR website, but I can't seem to find the FR500. Is there a website or suggestion?

The FR500 cams haven't been available for about 3 years.

96-98 cobra cams are better than the GT cams (FORD GT super cams).

WOW I can't believe they don't make them anymore. I guess the FR500 idle videos grew on me so I might have to go with another set of aftermarket cams.

you can always get COMP 106100's. I think that's what I'm going to get for my rebuild or you can always have custom camshafts made.

IMO cams less duration than the 106100s are better for street driven combos. they provide more more mid range hp and tq while making nearly the same peak power as cams with 10-15 deg more dur @.050".

The Fr500s have only 212 deg duration and will make 350rwhp/350rwtq in a stock longbloock. Adding 14 degrees duration will give you 360/340 and less tq in the mid range where street driven cars need the power.

Below is a comparison of an FR500 cammed stock engine to one with my custom cams which have 226/226 deg dur. The FR500s are the blue line. Cams somewhere in the middle with a low intake LC may be the best option if peak power or a 7000rpm shift point isn't the goal
