what to do with hood????

so i really hate my mach hood, hate the way hood pins have worked out for me. should have gone with steeda hood pins from the get go. now i worked with what i got and yeap, got what i go. happy with em for what they are
my buddy lm_coogs has the aftermarket fiberglass mach 1 hood on his mach and the weight diff is amazing

here is what i'm wanting your thoughts on
option 1: do it like lookngo did his, have the strip painted on there like that

both not having hood pins

IMHO its a win/win on which ever i go with
if i used my hood. will be having the holes filled in

Not being a smart arse, but I really thought all the Stock mach hoods were fiberglass. Is that not correct ??

They are, but I believe Ash meant to say carbon fiber

LookNgo's Mach is really nice, but I'm not really digging the big square black out. I just think our hoods have too much shape/curves to pull the look off. It looks really good on the '69-'70s cause they're basically flat, very little shape to those hoods. The one "look" that isn't too bad looking is the painted hood stripe that flows with the grill opening. I seen a few guys on here with that style, and the one I absolutely LOVE is what's his name's Mach with the carbon fiber hood, but has/uses the carbon fiber as the hood stripe while the rest of the hood is painted. OMGawd that gave me a woody! I can haz kleen bokserz?! :drool:

OP: what do your hood pins look like?
i have quik-latch mini latches on my 97 and love the look, very subtle and clean. you may be able to switch to them.

Well my buddy has a fiber glass mach hood that is way leghter than the stock one, both are fiber glass

good catch but like i posted on what LSX said was my buddy got from a company a really leght weight fiber glass hood, takes that heavy load off of it, i guess kinda like how the aftermarket ones are
i member when i got my Steeda Q400 hood and its a fiberglass hood and the weight on it was alot less
so that is why i was sayin a new fiber glass mach hood

i would love carbon fiber, but for almost half the price i can have that light weight fiber glass hood

Yeah, I copied CMEmach1's paint job on mine. He was a good inspiration =)

I think all black wouldn't flow right with your car ASh. It needs some body color on it to flow right.

If you paint the stripe, definitely make sure it has the 1/4 stripe around the edge - helps break the flow up and blend nicely between the two colors.

if i don't paint the hood black it will be how lookngo did his

let me see if i can find the member on here that has what i'm wanting, but his hood is just carbon fiber, let me see if i can find it

ok found it, this is where the ideal for painting the hood black, cuz i'm also wanting to paint the roof black too, i think this flows well, i do know what you mean about the flow, but with the roof painted black i believe it flows well and with me more than likly not going to be changing front bumper and leave the stock one, this gives a good picture of what it will look like, but i do have a 4post roush wing

It's a lot better with the black roof. Almost like a two tone paint job where the top half is one color and the bottom another.

Hey Vertigyn, I'm wondering if its your Mach that I seen a pic of. Any chance that you posted up a pic of your Mach's hood at night within the last week or two? You've got a cf hood with the bigger/wider hood stripe, right?!
