427 Cobra on "Muscle Car"

Did anyone see the Factory Five Cobra with the Coyote motor take on the original 427 Cobra? When they got to the drag strip the poor old 427 could only manage a 14.33 with Bob Tasca at the wheel. What the heck was wrong with that car?

The 450 hp Factory Five only turned a 12.86.

Does anyone else think these times suck considering the cars?

Was it raining or was that their times down the quarter and back? Just kidding and yes those are not impressive times.

Re: 427 Cobra on "Muscle Car"

I watched it this morning in disbelief. From what they were saying the tires were the limiting factor on the real Cobra. I was stunned by its 1/4 mile time, too. Especially considering the driver. If you saw the shots of them in the other tests (braking and road racing) you'd have to say that they really didn't hold back on anything.

Re: 427 Cobra on "Muscle Car"

Those are really shocking numbers. By far the fastest car I've ever been in was an original 427 Cobra. However that could also be because I felt like my face was going to peel off from the acceleration. I would have figured much better numbers for both cars.

Re: 427 Cobra on "Muscle Car"

Didn't the 427 trap something like 92? WTF? Tires may have contributed to the poor et, but the mph should still have been much higher.
