Around here they get $100-150 just for a wash and wax and vacuum.

Sounds decent to me. I'm about to pay a guy somewhere between $175-250 for a paint correcting detail.

Sounds way too cheap I charge $45 an hour to do paint correction work. Post up your vehicle and I will let you know if you need it to be wetsanded, most vehicles dont need that done to remove swirls, holograms, etched water spots, etc. Compounding and polishing will fix 99% of most vehicles on the road when requesting paint correction work. The last correction I did I charged $1500.

wow thats very cheap for wet sanding alone and why do you think you need it. . .understand that its the most aggressive paint correction process to do, gl

Agree with the above. I'd just check out their work, just to make sure they do a good job.

Thats a great price.

I know it needs it. You should see the paintjob in the sun, it looks awful, I already used a "safe" orbital buffer on it before, it looks shiny but still lots of scratches. Ill let yall know how it turned out. Getting the car restriped too from black to siver. Ill post pics when all done too.

thanks for all the replys guys !

I am still pretty sure it doesnt need it man I have corrected alot of vehicles that are horrible a good compound like Meguiars M105, Menzerna Powergloss or Scholl Concepts S3 Gold and Purple foam wool pad or 3M Superbuff III wool pad will cut through virtually anything.

Remember wetsanding an OEM paint will compromise the clear coat you will be eating away several Mils/Microns off your clear that you can never get back. Its not a custom paint job with several layer of clear that you can wetsand and polish down. But its your ride man I hope the detailer your taking it to knows what they are doing and you dont come back here with pictures full of holograms because I see this all the time.

What orbital do you use I hope its not one you got at an autoparts store those are junk and wont correct anything. You will at least need a dual action polisher to correct paint, a Porter Cable 7424XP, Griots Garage D/A, Meguiars D/A, FLEX 3401 D/A etc. if your not going to use a rotary polisher.

Re: $300.00 too much for wet sand/detail job?

I agree with not wet sanding. I had a black Mach with swirls, etched water spots, and scratches. I had a paint correction done; clay bar, buffing and sealant. Won two first places after it was done!! They charged me $300. Looked like a new paint job. I'm doing my new 04 Mach next week. It is also black.

Re: $300.00 too much for wet sand/detail job?

We start at about $250 for a full detail with no compound. Paint correction in the $400 to $800 range with no wet sanding. How much wet sanding are you doing ?
