Mach 1 weighs 3317 lbs...

Ford lists the weight of each vehicle on its invoice. We just got our very first Mach 1 invoice today and the weight is listed as 3317 lbs., which isn't much more than the 3273 lbs that Ford lists for a 2002 GT coupe.

Weight

You must consider the slightly heavier motor?, shaker, different hood (probably same weight), subframe connectors, heavy springs, heavier sway bar, larger Brembo brakes and 13" rotors.

There's probably the difference...

Exactly the reason I posted my findings. I think the 3465 was a guesstimate. 3317 makes more sense assuming a lighter aluminum engine, but heavier suspension/brake pieces & shaker, as Dave mentioned.

Invoice received!

Five Oh B

What was the build date of the Mach 1 for which you received the invoice? How long would you speculate after a vehicle is built until the dealer receives the invoice? thanks!

Excellent! That makes much more sense than the 3465lbs - I was expecting about 60-70lbs heavier than the GT, mainly from the shaker assembly and hood weight.

I don't suppose there is any weight distribution information on an invoice, but if there is, any info would be appreciated.

Now I am much more excited and might get my 4th Mustang!!

Just for comparison,I weighed my Bullitt with 1/4 tank of fuel,at a certified Public scale. 3320 lbs. I would assume the Mach would be a little more than that with the Shaker setup.

This Mach 1 was invoiced by Ford on 11/11, we received it from Ford on 11/15, the car is scheduled to be built 11/20, and at our dealership on 12/02/02.

So, we got the invoice 5 days BEFORE the car is to be built. Makes sense, considering Ford can't build a car until they invoice it. Then it's just a race between the mail service (getting the invoice sent to the dealer) and the assembly line (getting the car built).

mgk2, sorry, my friend, I have no way to check another dealer's order - only our own. I don't work for Ford, just a franchised dealership.

Five Oh B,

Please give some general info about the dealer invoice. What is it? Is this document something the dealership has to pay for? I remember an early conversation with my dealer, when I asked about the DORA. He said, we don't get them because Ford charges us for them, they charge us for everything. We later resolved the confusion about the DORA, but I never figured out what he was referring to. He mentioned a nominal fee of a few dollars. I want to get all the internal paperwork I can to document my car. Is the dealer invoice something I can/should ask for? I'd like to know what I am talking about when I discuss this with the dealer.

Thanks.

While you can ask a dealer politely for a copy of the invoice, they are not obligated to give you one. An invoice is sent for each vehicle the dealer orders so they know how much they owe Ford for the car (it is not an option, and it doesn't cost anything). I have a copy of the invoice for my GT, but I work at the dealer. Someone buying on A/D/Z plan gets to see the invoice for the car they're buying, but they don't have a right to a copy either. Many dealers don't want you to see their cost of the car you're buying, so they don't hand out a copy of the invoice. However, in the internet age, customers can easily look up invoice cost on any number of websites, so this is a moot point anymore.

Again, ask politely (knowing that it's not your right to get a copy) and your dealer may just get you a copy for your car's scrapbook!

Another little tidbit

Brian, the other night at my dealer while they were looking up the "phantom shipping" info in CONCEPS, I happened to notice there was a line that listed the GVW as 3279. It was after you had started this thread, and I thought, wow, that's just about the same as a GT and considerably less than you had posted from the invoice. I saw the invoice for my car and it said 3317 also. I wonder which one, if either, is right, since not much else seems to be correct (ie build and shipping info).

Maybe 3279 is the dry weight, while 3317 is the wet weight (shipping or curb weight?)???
