question is to use or not to use meth injection

so i figure we can have both threads and this will keep it i hope alittle more straighter compare to the other one, which i see the other one throwing down great info. so that is a plus, but i wanted to make this a poll one and then once you get done explain why you said yes or why you said no.

ok lets say your mach had the same mods mine has, built 5.0 w/ procharger D1sc pushing 17psi

here are the reasons for wanting to use meth injection
-to act as another intercooler type set up. basically another way to keep temps down
-since i don't get on it a whole bunch i won't be using a whole bunch

here is the downside of why i don't want to use meth injectioni
-the build up over time by the meth injectioin in my motor


Now on a plus side the HP gain from it. but i didn't put that in there of the why reason cuz that isn't the reason i thought bout using it for.

like i've said i'm wanting mine more for safety than anything help protect the motor alittle more if i'm able too. just like when i move to texas i want to upgrade to a race radatior to help with the cooling

alright so take a vote and please explain why you choose yes or no

Get two tunes, one with and one with out... That way, when your on a road trip, and run out, and the spare bottle of boost juice is on the bench in the garage, you can keep going until you find some ISO heat, and washer fluid...

maybe a stupid question...have you actually monitored the temps you're concerned about? Personally, if the temps arent getting out of hand I'd leave it alone vs adding another variable to the equation

On the main page all I could see is To use or not to use meth. I was gonna SAY NO!!!!! But then I clicked and saw injection lol. My cousins 97 Cobra Saleen, Made 657 on 93 and 711 on 93 w/Meth. No boost increase only Meth. Car was a T-trim, Forged bottom end, 03 Mach Heads and Cams. Still through the Factory Saleen Exhaust, a T56 and 4.10s.

Use it, just buy the Boost Referencing Setup, that is progressive to Boost PSI. Its always nice to have incase you got a batch of bad gas or it started detonating too. Much safer than Nitrous, and worlds cheaper but still produces a increase in power and a decrease in temps.

And like SLOPONY said, you can always pick up some washer fluid, boost juice is 49/51 and I think most washer fluid is 40/60. I've never dyno'd it but I hear there is usually 10ish hp difference between the two.

My question is WHY NOT?

i live in WA state and for the most part its not really hot up here like where i grew up and fixin to move back to TEXAS, but i haven't really datalog the car on temps yet, but i'm just thinking ahead with moving to Texas and what can keep the mach even safer, just like another plan is to upgrade to a nicer radiator when i get down there, that should help alittle. that is why i was thinking about doing meth injection just another insurance to the car

I voted Yes to use it but imo its a waste of money for you if your not going to use it to its potenial.

ASh, if I had your mods I would not worry about the IAT. And if I were worried about them, I would spray a small shot of nitrous to help drop the temps and increase the power.


Also your radiator should not affect your IATs unless your car is running hot even when out of the throttle.

The only reason I went with meth is because im non-intercooled. With you having a a/a I really wouldn't worry about it. It just adds another thing to chase in the tune if you start having issues. I love having the meth and the extra power it added though.

i get what your saying, but with the Texas heat i just think it would be a wise choice and also just like upgrading to a race radiator is another wise thing i'm wanting to do with the Texas heat, i would rather be safe than sorry, also i don't get on it very much so with the meth injection not sprayin till i'm in the boost i shouldn't go threw it very fast

Greg that was a thought when i still had my ZEX kit hooked up, also the motor i have could take a shot, i just really didn't have the balls to spray with the new set-up, i did think about settin it up so when i purged it would spray the intercooler, but then i think about the cost of nitrous and it just turned me away from the ideal. so with that i went ahead and sold it. also like i stated above, also with doing the meth injection i won't have to run race gas (which i wanted to stay away from that and just like how i don't want to use slicks)

since i've had the set-up done the temps haven't gone over the normal spot where they are at, no overheating and even with the A/C going in traffic no overheating issues, which i'm so happy about that for sure not being a problem
