Ugh my roof is getting worse.

Pro tips on how to get rid if these pits/smudges? The white dots look like pic2 when seen over head. They almost look like little pits.I hardly ever wax, and after washing use instant versatility when needed. I have some basic scratch remover/ swirl at my disposal.

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

i guess we need a little more info..are they actual indentations? If not I would start with a clay bar (i prefer to use car soap/water in a spray bottle for lubricant and just hose it all down again when done) and then move onto machine applied polishes (typical rule of thumb is if you can feel it with a fingernail, you cant fix it with a buffer..you can minimize its appearance but it will not go away completely)

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

I had the same problem on my hood and roof, (black mach), I had never had such hard water spots before.. As a poster said above, clay bar it, if those are truly hard water spots then that process will take them out. Also, this is not a quick process, take your time and do small sections. I spent hours on mine.

Do not do it in the sun, in fact, I highly recommend when using the clay bar to only do this in your garage. If you drop the bar, throw it away... it will pick up tiny particles that will scratch your paint.

Then, after everything is smooth, wax to perfection.

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

It's not hard water. It just looks like it in that it doesn't reflect light. I'll try a claybar.

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

hard water can actually etch the paint in some cases, the only fix for that is polishing, assuming the damage isnt too deep.

try the clay bar (i usually break mine into quarters, you'll probably drop it at some point) and see how it goes from there. With your fingernail snagging on it it would depend on if the snag was above the paint surface or below the paint surface. If its something stuck to the paint it can definitely be removed

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

Tried this stuff called Beyond clay that claims to do the same thing as a claybar. I do not have a clay bar so i cant really compare the 2.

-Washed car with dish soap.
-Applied M's ultimate compound on the roof and it got rid of the scratches from playing with another compound, but the small spots are still there.
-Applied the Beyond clay after that and nothing different. I spent maybe 5 minutes buffing out the roof by hand.. machine maybe?
-Washed Car again with Car soap
-Waxed with Carnauba Based paste wax stuff.

Car looks good, then again i havnt washed it like this in months.

Here are my products so far.

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

Don't clay bar on top of any kind fo wax/compound. wash first, then clay bar, then do the compound/wax..

Re: Ugh my roof is getting worse.

Personally, I do not see a liquid or paste doing what an actual clay bar does
