Engine swapp!

Okay boys! Now that I've officially introduced myself (although no pictures of myself or my car have been posted yet heh), I need some help!

Looking to do an '03 Mach swap into my '02 auto GT. I've been looking around on some other sites and researching as much as I can, but I figured the Mach1 forums might be just a tad more help. So here I am!! If anyone has successfully done this swap before, I'm talking to you!!

Any help will do :]
My GT is pretty and all, and everyone knows him (yes, him). But now it's time for them to know him for what the Mustang was made for - import-eating power >

(Side note: I am not an import-hater! As long as the car is done right. I just bought my brother an '08 350Z yesterday =X )

the price of the coyote crate motor isnt bad but once you start putting in the stand alone computer kit for it and all the other odds and ends its gonna be 8-10k in parts pretty easily

Re: Engine swapp!

Yeah those standalones aren't cheap lol I love the Mach motor though, I'd love to pop one of those in there. Otherwise I was going to do a few things to my GT motor but that d@mn 2V just drives me crazy.

And yes, I'm gonna find pix lol Help meeeee :]

Oh and what's a Coyote? Haven't even come across that before.

Re: Engine swapp!

I just finished up a Mach1 to GT swap a couple of months ago(mine is a MT though). It is a fairly easy swap as long as you have the wiring harness, cruise and throttle cables, all accessories, headers, and intake. The coolant hoses are different as well. You will need to be tuned afterwards. The motor drops right in. The wiring is the biggest pain but even that isn't too difficult if you have the Mach1 harness to scavenge from. PM me if you have any specific questions.

Its the new 5.0 motor in the 2011 mustangs. It was code named Coyote when it was in development. Its already a legendary motor and its only been out a year. A 5.0 swap would be sweet, but it will cost a crap load. A mach motor would be a much easier swap for your car and it will still make it fly pretty good, especially with some additional mods.

I'd find some dumba$$ that wrecked his new 5-0. And swap the engine and 6 speed auto into your car.

Re: Engine swapp!

5.0 would definitely be awesome; a little out of my budget at the moment though!

I found some pix I figured I'd post, then we'll talk cars again lol

Threw in a facebook picture (I look like I have an attitude problem but I really don't lol =X ) and a picture from last summer of me cleaning the crap out of my engine for a car show.

Otherwise, this is my ride:
02 GT // Auto // K&N Cold air // Bassani X-pipe and Catback
The cosmetics support the tag "MuttStang": 95-style Cobra R hood, Mach1 front bumper spoiler, 18" white Saleen wheels (<3), billet grille, clear headlights, 99 Cobra tail lights (<3).
I plan on putting a Saleen-style rear bumper on it but that'll be later on. I also have H&R Lowering springs which I need to install verrrry soon. And I had bought 3.73 gears, but reading on here for the Mach1 I'm seeing a lot of 4.10 recommendations so I guess we'll see where that goes!!

Oh and as a side-note: The plate "GTStatus" is because my first Mustang was a 6-cylinder. Stepped it up a notch 3 years ago; looking to step it up another notch now!

Why not supercharge your 2v? Time, money and effort would be way less.

I dun like my 2V My goal actually, right now, is to destroy this 6-cylinder 2010 Camaro that moseys around here. The girl is a total b1tc|-| and thinks who the h3ll she is. I wanna teach her a lesson with my motor, not a supercharger.

Mach motor will get the job done for you. Do u have a motor already or are you still looking for one?

Not sure what your budget is, but it will be easier if you can get a mach 1 engine harness to go with it, and coolant hoses to match. Our cars also have the same radiator and fan as the 03/04 cobras. Its a much bigger piece than what you find on the GTs. PM LOOKnGO on here and he may be able to get you some of the stuff you will need for the swap on the cheap. He carries alot of this stuff and has great prices.

I can also recommend some great mods for it that will pick up some power too, depending on how much you are looking to spend.

You got a nice looking... car...

Probably easiest to find a wrecked cobra/mach and take everything from that.

Re: Engine swapp!

Fenix - I appreciate your help!

I was reading about ECU's; I assume I'll need to get a Mach ECU as well as the wiring harness? I work in a body shop so I have access to parts (and nice discounts so getting the Mach ECU and having it programmed wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I did read in a few places that I could use my GT ECU, but that it'd have to be tuned to match the motor. But it'd make more sense to get the Mach ECU, because I read that they have better response (besides the fact that the ECU is meant to be with the motor). Any suggestions on that one?

Re: Engine swapp!

The Mach 1 uses 2 different engine harness and calibration harness,
in addition to the different PCM.
You can use the GT harness and splice in the needed connectors.
Then get it tuned

Re: Engine swapp!

Wow your hot!!!!! There is nothing hotter or sexier than a hot girl with a mustang with beautiful blue eyes. If only u lived closer I would give u a helping hand anytime u wanted !!

But like others said as long as u have all the wiring and cables u should be good. The auto trans are all the same so that's good. Try eBay or salvage yards for motors.
