new 5.0 swap...Need advice

I like any other mod v8 fan ive been looking alot into the new 5.0 they just put out and was wondering if it would be possible to swap one into the Mach or say on 05GT... I know the cobra typr r has a 5.4 in it and to my knowledge the 05-11 are very similar accept for the newly added 5.0... any thoughts? Ive seen the longblock for sale for 6,000$ and was wondering if it would be doable to drop it into the Mach or an 05 or up GT? I cant find an 11 gt for under 25,000$ or i would just buy it but I can get a high meleage gt for 10,000 cash and drop the all aluminum 5.0 in the lighter 05 body (sorry I love my mach way more but im a fan of s197 body)

It should fit in an '05 easily. Just need the correct engine mounts. I believe there is a company that makes mounts for our cars now as well.

If I ever blow this motor, I think the mach will be getting an upgrade.

Re: new 5.0 swap...Need advice

going to also have to set up the electric power steering pump
and there are a few othere minor things

but I have herd putting a 5.0 in a mach is a
easy swap if you know what your doing.

Re: new 5.0 swap...Need advice

I would consider it would be a alot easier in our Mach vs. the 05 gt seeing as its a 3v and both the new 5.0 and ours are 4v... my main concern was the 3v to 4v swap and what ecu or piggyback would be needed to run properlly... could the ecu from the 11gt be used in an 05?!?!? I havnt seen a standalone completely programmable ecu for fords like I have the imports (ie. hondata)....

LOL the number of valves has nothing to do with fitting a motor in an engine bay. It's all about the engine mounts. Also the new 4 valve has VVT

If I blow this motor then yes, however, I doubt that will happen anytime soon unless I do something stupid. The motor is built to the hilt and is only running an eaton with 8 psi right now. Although I did just buy a 2.76 upper for it, but this motor can take whatever the eaton can throw at it. Hell, I plan to upgrade to a whipple 2.9 down the road and it will be able to take whatever THAT blower can throw at it. As long as I have enough fuel and a good tune, its good to go.

Re: new 5.0 swap...Need advice

if you go over to FRPPs site they have harness and pcm kits (requires return style fuel system), alternator solutions etc...it gets expensive quick it looks like..probably tack 3-4k on top of the motor to get it running

Im talking as far as tuning etc.... it seems if it was that simple more 05 gt folks would be doing 4 valve head builds... how many 4 valve 05 and up have you seen?

until the new 5.0 theres not a ton of reason for a 4valve swap most of the time...The 3 valve heads seem to flow well enough that its not worth the trouble of hacking up harnesses

I've owned them all. While I liked my supercharged 2v. The 3v is a better engine stock vs stock and even does well against the 4v with bolt ons.

Re: new 5.0 swap...Need advice

I dont own a 3v Mustang, But I dont understand why you guys dislike them or dis-credit the power they make..
Like I said I know 3 friends with 07 GTs 1 auto the others sticks, They all run 12s EASILY..And all they have is exhaust and 4.10s ...So far they all are faster than my Mach1 and I have more mods.
Even Wild Bill had said his friend (Girl ) with a Bullit Mustang runs 12s with a tune and gears,
All I can think of is that you guys know people with 3v that cant drive worth the crap, The 1 car I mentioned runs 12.91 with street tires..

Re: new 5.0 swap...Need advice

Im just a fan of the S197 body and interior panels (less plastic)... also how the c and a pilars are one piece and molded to body...It just seems it would cost alot more to build a reliable Daily Driven 3valve vs 4valve from what I can gather.. (I dont have much experience with Mustang though)

Re: new 5.0 swap...Need advice

Their is a performance shop here in Tulsa OK that completely swapped the Engine and drive train and full interior of a 2011 GT into a 2006 GT... http://www.lofton-motorsports.com/ did the conversion and is said to be featured in the May issue if MM&FF magazine. The car has a Novi blower and made 697HP to the wheel.
