How does carfax work? Is it worth the price?

it can be good, but it can be a waste too. i for one hate them. i had a clean carfax on the cobra, well guess what? when it got hit and went to the body shop a previous wreck damage was dicovered. called carfax and it had been too long for them. it was fixed right at least from whom ever did it. the wreck was about 3 months after i picked the car up. the best thing IMO is try to buy from an honest person.
