I always assumed it was a cost cutting measure. They also did away with the net above the rear view mirror for sunglasses.

03's have a sunglass net located above the rear view mirror. This was not available for the 04's.

Re: why are 03&04 valve covers different

The 04s had less wind resistance due to the round 40th anniv badge. And the 04 covers weighed less. Subtract the weight of the sunglass net and BINGO, you have a lighter, more aerodynamic Mach.

03's may be worth more since they are a 39th. After all you could get a 40th in a GT as well, but a 39th.... They are rare! Lol

My MAF is better And my black keyhole is stealth so i dont have to worry about that blingy chrome keyhole standing out and saying "Im right here, break into me." I would know since I had an 04 and my lock got popped and they stole all my bowling equipment out of the trunk.

Your logic sucks lol since the 40th badge is bigger and wider and sticks out more creating more wind resistance. The tribar bar pony is small and weighs less negating any weight savings from not having the super handy cargo net on the roof. I also dont see how the 04 valve covers weigh less. :P

I had an 04 AB mach and I have an 03 AB mach. Its the best color and it looks the same between both years so I dont see where you are going with this argument.

Re: why are 03&04 valve covers different

The real reason is the 03s Black covers ran hotter so they left the paint off on the 04 s . Thats why the 04 are faster too !

NOT SO.

What is the emissivity of painted metal surfaces and how does it depend on layer thickness?
The emissivity of a painted surface usually approaches the emissivity of the paint for a sufficient layer thickness, usually 2 or 3 thin coats. The emissivity of painted surfaces usually increases with temperature due to broadening of the absorption bands of the chemical components in the paint. A metal surface painted with a thin layer (1 coat) might have a change in emissivity from 0.95 at 500 °C to 0.4 at 50 °C.

What he said!Example..Powder coating is actually a plastic coating sprayed on and melted by heat to a surface.
