Mach 1 Ltd. Screenprinted Poster?

I'm pretty new here and have been lurking around the site for a little over a week. One thing is very apparent - you're all definitely Mach heads, and I agree. I'm digging the hell outta' mine.

I'm a 'graphic designer'. I hate that term, so let's say I'm a rock n' roll poster artist / merch designer because that's what I really do. I design concert posters and merch for bands and venues like the House of Blues here in Orlando. Not crummy Photoshop jobs, but hand-illustrated, limited edition screenprinted posters. It's my 'real' job. Not a hobby.

So here's what I'm really getting at and I've spoke with Dave about this: I'd like to design, illustrate and screenprint a cool, super-limited edition Mach 1 poster taking into consideration input from all of you here on the site - ie; the Mach's color, a catchy header, etc. And by 'limited' I mean like only 150 to 200 prints. These would be large 22" x 32" six to seven-color silkscreens printed on heavy, archival stock, each hand signed and numbered by myself. In short, REALLY nice prints. The price would be $25.00 per print, plus I'm sure I could work a special price with my printer / publisher for anyone who buys two or more prints. Some dough from sales will also be donated to this site. If any of you know about the screenprinting process, then you know it ain't cheap. Myself and my publisher won't make a massive profit from this, and I'm not desperate for work. I wanna' do it because I'm a 'Stang nut and there's a lot of really bad auto art out there. I'd like to do something cool.

So my question is basically how many of you would be interested in this? We need to know that enough will be sold to cover our costs, give some dough to Dave and make a small profit. This will also be a good solid week or more of work on my part, as I have to do the illustration, cut the color seps and prep it all for printing.

Oh, and the poster will have to feature a hottie pinup with the car. That's non-negotiable

You can check out my work here http://www.stainboyreinel.com and give me your feedback, threats, etc. I've also attached some images of my work below.

It looks like you do really good work but I am not into the cartoon chick thing. If you are doing it of just he car than I might be interested. Only if it is in White though. As I already have a ton of stuff in other colors.

I too would be interested -- especially if the shipping protects the print.

Yes, I have talked to him about it and thought it might be a neat addition to anyone's collection of Mach 1 stuff.

Hopefully there will be enough interest in it.

If you're going to work on something for the '03/'04 Machs, you might want to lose the 70's theme and get a little more modern in the design, especially with the lettering ... Just my opinion.

Agreed. It would definitely be a more modern design. I only posted the above images as samples of my stuff. Those posters were designed around the bands that they're advertising. I would most likely use the Mach 1 lettering style, although a slight retro touch might be cool as that's what the new Machs are about - a look back, not a stare.

As far as safe shipping goes, I do it everyday. They'd be rolled ( not real tight ), wrapped and shipped in a heavy duty tube.

What I can do is put together a design and post it. If the majority here are cool with it - allowing for some small changes, we'll go ahead with it. If not, the work can be used on one of my upcoming concert jobs, so it wouldn't be a loss.

Also keep in mind that the above images are low-res 72 dpi files. The actual screenprinted posters look truly kick azz and they would be a real limited art print. Not a 'special collector's edition' of 10,000 prints we're talking, like 150 to 200 prints at the most.

How 'bout a header like " Whole Lotta' Shakin' Goin' On ".....? Or something like that in a Mach style font. Keep giving me your input. I will take it all into consideration.

Oh, and if the majority rules, the skirt can be shorter. I'd have her wearing nothing more than a chin spoiler

I'm married with a teenage daughter who is into Mustangs. Don't see the need for the girlie image.

I'm also married with a teenage daughter. She's grown up looking at and appreciating all kinds of art - fine and lowbrow. She watches me ink all the time. But I do understand that some folks ain't into the 'chick' thing, although most of my sales are to women.

Maybe we can burn two screens for the black line art - one with pinup and Mach, one with Mach only. Both tastes are represented.....?

Headers I like so far:

Mach 'n' Roll

Who's Next?

Here's some I came up with:

Shake Some Action

Shake Some A$$phalt

I'd be interested in a nice poster. I still got some wall space in the apartment to fill up. I just got the huge Mach1 burnout post hung up over my bed, along with some other Mach1 images.

I won't buy it, thank you. I just think we need to be aware of what many consider sexism. I'm thrilled my daughter is into cars just don't see why sex has to be mixed in with it.
Are there going to be prints with scantily clad men too?
Some consider this stuff offensive. That's their right.
Why offend people over a car?

I bought my car so I could get scantily clad women. The two go hand and hand with me.
