Supposed to be Taurus platform, possibly with the 3.5 ecoboost AWD. Would be a lot cooler as a 5.0 RWD platform.

Hmm, awhile back, Like 2 months ago, they said new Interceptor was suppose to be a whole new platform? I thought the police liked the Crown Vic because of the rear wheels drive? I wonder why they choose the Taurus

Two engine options, custom interior, 75 mph rear crash rating, twice the acceleration as the Crown Vic with AWD EcoBoost.....me likey. I think it's a good move that Ford is not calling it the Taurus police package even though that's really what it is. It will be interesting to see what the "second" police interceptor will be to go along with this one.

Nice, but how does a PD justify the cost of a fully equiped car?

I don't think most departments need more powerful cruisers. They will just beat the crap out of them. Our dept. is proving the durability of the Chargers everyday by the way they drive them. I'd get a ticket in a heartbeat for the stunts they pull.

Here's an example of why most PD don't need faster cars. They still don't know why the officer hit the truck or how fast he was going. Truck driver said he never saw him coming. No lights and no siren. I think it was a Charger, not sure.

Last monday night I was with my brother in the GT and we just rolled up on a cop car up against the snowbank the car was messed up

I did not see what happened but we were soon enought to see **** still flying in the air around the car.

I think its cool you can get a ballistic door option. I know the Sheriff's department in my county have been complaining about the Crown Vics power for years. The last few sets they have ordered through the dealership they changed the gear ratios in their cruisers to get up and go quicker. I think they lost 7mph off the top end but off the line it moves pretty good.

i have 2 friends that have done it in cars....one was an old beatup truck

and I have about 10 friends that have done it on bikes
