Fellow member can use your prayers !

Hi folks, I just got word that one of our members RSnider (Rick) is in the hospital and has been for a few days. He had been feeling lousy for a while and was finally admitted to the hospital where he is being treated for clots in his lungs. His wife says that he was being treated to dissolve the clots and will spend at least 3 days there.
Rick has been a friend and fellow M1R member since we bought our cars new in 2003!
Hey Ricky, we're all praying for your speedy recovery!
Here's a video we did of him the last time we went to Speedworld!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCy4gdFqw38

Update on Rick

Hi again folks, I spoke to Rick today and he's still in the hospital but is hoping to go home tomorrow (hope, hope)
He said he is feling a lot better but still tired from the difficult sleeping environment in the hospital. He also said that the medication is doing what it is supposed to do, but seemed to take longer than expected.
It was awesome to see all the posts from you guys...hopefully the next update will be from Rick himself telling us that all is well and wanting to go back out to Speedworld

Re: Fellow member can use your prayers !

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I am still a "guest" at John C Lincoln Deer Valley in North Phoenix. My INR level is finally at 2.5, but now they have stopped the Lovinox injections and will wait to see if the Coumadin will maintain a level over 2.0

Last Wednesday I went to the ER and they confirmed a DVT in my lower left leg. They said no biggie, it's superficial, just put warm compresses on it and take aspirin. 48 hours later I couldn't breath because of the chest pain. Back to the ER and a quick CT confirmed multiple pulmonary embolisms in my left lung. Dang that hurts.

The blood clots are gone and now we are simply trying to make sure they do not return. When I complained about not going home my doc (in a very stern voice) said I was lucky I wasn't in a refrigerated box! That got my priorities back in order.

Eight days in the hospital is a drag. But missing my grandchildren’s first few birthdays would have been worse.

Thanks again for the prayers, and thank God for every day we have with our friends and loved ones.

Rick

Re: Fellow member can use your prayers !

Prayers out to you, Rick. My wife has been dealing with clots for 2 years now. She also had a leg clot that had traveled to her lungs, and her doctor told her similarly about not having the "box" trip as well.

Hang in there!

I don't agree with sending home DVTs just because of the high risk for a pulmonary embolus, and most people are not complaint with home therapy. You can die pretty quick from a pulmonary embolism. Usually a person with Atrial fibrillation is prone to clots, also if you do a lot of sitting, driving, or on a plane for any extended amount of time you can develop clots in the legs. God is good.
