Something Weird I Noticed - K Members

I work at a tire shop part-time and the other day, a guy brought in his Mach 1. Aside from the fact that I acted like a little girl when I saw it, I took advantage of having a look under it when it was pulled in to check for the usual mods etc. He had a UPR K-member, A arms, and coil overs. Here's the weird part. When I went to pull it out I noticed that at about 3/4 of full left or right steering travel, the wheel got hard to turn and it felt as though there was some serious binding (made some noises as well). What could cause this? He came in for 2 fronts and the olds were worn very evenly. It was significantly lowered, but not slammed. The reason I ask is because I'm still wanting to do a K member, A arms, coil overs, all steering upgrades, etc etc and now I'm wondering if there's something he missed or I missed that needs to be taken note of. Thoughts?

I've driven a car with the steeda k member, stock arms, not a coil over and did not notice that at all

Definitely stock headers. Had aftermarket from there back, though.

i have his exact set-up. coilovers, a-arms, etc. and my steering has never been like that. steers like a factory car, I also have longtubes if it matters.

There's only one answer so far, "Prob rubbing the coil overs. He needs to put rack limiters in."

Re: Something Weird I Noticed - K Members

The front tire could be rubbing on the liner or if not installed correctly, the coilover kit could be hitting the bracket that holds the brake line to the frame..this is overlooked a lot.

It's no secret that I prefer MM - Yes I'm an MM dealer but I used them on my personal cars long before I sold them. I had a customer at my booth this weekend (NMRA Bradenton) about how after installing his UPR k-member setup, the passenger front tire was touching the front fender opening and the driver side was centered fine. He says UPR told him to pry rearward on the k-member as he tightened the bolts to gain some clearance.... He did say this was 2 years ago..

Oh, you're fine, buddy. In my opinion, it's no secret that MM is of a little higher quality. When it comes to hearing about parts/upgrades, I've always heard of MM brand stuff more often than anything else. And having to 'pry' anything sounds a little silly to me.

Thanks everyone for your input!
