passenger side turn signal going nuts!
hey guys need your input here. Just recently, everytime I turn on the right turn signal it goes all fast like how the import guys like to do sometimes. My left one is the same speed as usual but the right is just buggin the crap out of me. Plus it looks funny too...doesn't match the mach. I thought maybe the bulb was going out so I bought some replacements, (stock) and yet the fast and the furious turn signal speed is the same. What should I do?
thanks!

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
sounds like something is shorted...maybe the relay is missing a contact point...

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
Could be a burned out bulb. Check the simple stuff then go from there.
Good luck! LS |

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
Did you check front and rear both?

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
Try replacing the plug-in relay unit first, that's easy. If there's a bad ground in there somewhere it could cause this too. Be warned, a bad ground can be a pain to locate. Let us know how it works out.

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
This is what it sounds like to me. This is pretty typical. Check all your lights from outside the car first.

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
Thanks for the many replies guys. I have some questions. So a single bulb thats bad somewhere else can make the passenger turn signal all fast? Cuz I did buy a new one and its just the same. I checked all the lights outside and everything seems fine, the rear turn signal goes in sync with the front, all fast. I will check the relay and see if something is not right. Will keep you updated

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
For the turn signal circuit - there are two bulbs on each side in the rear, and one one each side up front. Hit your hazards and make sure all of them are blinking...

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
before you check your relays check to see if all the bulbs are blinking.
automakers put this safty check in so you will know that your bulb is bad. all the cars and trucks i have ever owned did the same thing. when a bulb dies, the blinker blinks faster. once you replace the bulb, it will be fine. im 99% sure it's not the relay and it's the bulb |

Re: passenger side turn signal going nuts!
I had the same problem in my '97 GT vert. My emer. flashers would either flash normal or not at all. The blinkers would either work normal, quickly or not at all. One side or the other and viseaversa.
This is what I did and I hope it helps. I bought some electrical contact cleaner. Disconnected battery, waited a few minutes and sprayed switch areas in column with switches on and off or left and right blinkers at base of stalk. I then left no power to it for a half hour or more to be sure it dried. I had to do this a couple of times over a few months and each time it would get better. The guy I bought the car from kept his car clean and shiny. He would spray chemical directly on top of column. Spray rag and apply to column to keep from shorting flasher switch which does affect blinkers. I hope this helps.
