Well performance solutions would be the place to go for getting your parts installed. http://www.performancesolutionracing.com/ What goodies you getting put on before the cruise?

Also I am a residential AC tech by trade. I could prolly check it out for you if you wanted. I have all the needed hardware.

Re: Poker Run..........and cruise

I asked the two refrigeration techs here at work about your problem. They agreed that it probably isn't overcharged. They said it could be under charged or the TXV valve or orifice tube (not sure which our cars use) could have a small blockage. Especially since your first compressor was toast, it could have send some debris down the system. They said a small blockage would slowly ice up the opening, and then break loose causing the whooshing sound you hear. An undercharge could possibly cause the same thing.

They said it was only a guess though. They said if the compressor was old and had bad valves the same symptom could happen... but probably not with a new compressor.

Re: Poker Run..........and cruise

Well it looks like this cruise is losing a little steam....the organizer said he only expects around 10 cars to participate. Maybe if it wasn't soooo long ? He said the total driving time is around 7 hours
I think I'll pass on this one and save my gas, tires, and mileage

That's about the time I was estimating for 420 miles, without lunch. And with gas now at $3.11, at least where I got gas today, who knows where it will be in another month. This would be a really great cruise to do, I have driven all the roads on the course at one point or another, and certain parts are really nice, especially up around Sedona. Maybe when gas gets cheaper...., yeah like that's gonna happen.

Well we can dream, can't we????

I have a few other Road Trip/Car Shows out of town, if I'm not carefull my gas card balances could look like my VISA balance (Darn Car Mods!).

Maybe we can get a group together to cruise up to the Flagstaff /Route 66 Car Show Sept 7-9. We could go via Wickenburg, Yarnell, Mingus Mtn.,Sedona/Oak Creek. Would be some nice Roads/Scenery, get out of the heat for a day or two, and won't bust our butts driving 420 miles in one day.

PM me with your address, and contact info if you are intrested in attending the Route 66 days Festival in Flagstaff Sept 7-9. Will send a registration form and info on Group rate Hotel Reservations. Last year they capped it at 200 Cars, this year it will be 300, with door prizes for every entrant. There was some talk about a Saturday Cruise to Olivas Mexican Resturant this summer too!

Re: Poker Run..........and cruise

Subscribing because I am curiuos how this turns out, and interested in doing something similar in my area. Sounds like fun.

edit* I just read back and noticed you guys might not do this because of the lentgh of the ride. I wouldn't want to drive that long either. 2-3 hours and less then 150 miles would be a little more appealing.
Learning from this post.

Any suggestions on other do's and don'ts for planning a poker run in my neck of the country? North East...

Thanks Haeg!!

I was thinking that lots of prizes, (even silly ones) for different types of things like:
1. Cleanest car
2. Dirtiest car
3. Oldest car
4. Most people in a car
5. Most bugs killed on a spot on the car
And a commerative T shirt would be fun. Pics or videos of the drivers at the check points. And definatly not too long.
I searched it on the net and found some good ideas.

Ok good ideas thanks. Not looking to make anything on this $$, winner gets all. I followed the link into your local club, I like the entry fee set up, where multiple hands can be played in each vehicle. I wanted to cap it at 4 hands per car, $15.00 for the first hand $5.00 each additional. And trading envelopes at the end prior to opening them. I want to keep it simple and hopefully get some local establishments to help out with handing out the playing cards, and hopefully the players might patronize each establishment with a small purchase of some sort. I'm thinking no more 150 miles. Anymore ideas to add, I'd love to hear them. I saw this post a while back and it got me thinking this could be alot of fun.
Thanks SOD
