Re: Tribute to US Marines

Beautiful, just plain beautiful. GOD BLESS every man and woman protecting our freedom so we may sit at home, cozy with our family, while they are out there making the ultimate of sacrifice's. They know what they're fighting for, and thank GOD somebody knows there is a serious threat to our country.

That was great. Makes me feel good about my job and that there are people out there who appreciate what we do.

Re: Tribute to US Marines

Puts the whole situation into perspective, doesn't it? We can't thank enough the people who have given or put their lives on the line for our freedoms. Much respect to all of them.

Tribute to US Marines (and a question at reply #12)

Okay...this is for all current and past Marines who have looked at the link I provided.

I thought this was a really good little photo gallery. HOWEVER.....

Someone in another forum I post on posted the same link. Shortly thereafter, some dude that states he was with the 1/9 'Walking Dead' in 'nam says the link is total bullsh--. He says no Marines would say goodbye as depicted. He says these pics are a joke and made up by Grannies and homos (His words). My question to the Marines here (perhaps current or recently separated/retired dudes MAY know better) is this...is this thing I posted realistic as to how Marines take care of their own? Or is it some Hollywood 'nicety'? Thanks

I'm retired Army and what you see in the video could just as easily be Army personnel. He would be TOTALLY wrong saying that about the Army and how we honor our fallen. I suspect he is wrong but you need a Marine to say so.

Re: Tribute to US Marines

Thanks for the response geoffav. This dude in this other forum I spoke of kinda pis--- off a lot of folks who otherwise thought someone had posted a nice thread about how Marines honor their own. Seemed realistic enough to us all, but this guy was like, super gung-ho, and goin' on about how it was all made up and stuff.

I have only met one Marine who seemed to regret his service. He "claimed" to be a Vietnam era draftee. I never really thought much of him and he was not much of a soldier. I think you probably have some duds, even in the Marines.

I found it realistic but wish it was not happening so often. We will see better times.

Probably because he fought in a different war, in a different era...As a vet I respect what he is saying, but he probably hasn't realized there is a huge difference in the Armed Services now, then there was then.
