Called Steeda today and ordered a front and back set of Hawk Street pads. I've 20K on my car the the breaks are sqealing everytime I touch the break. I've driven them a bid hard I think.

Any tips on the installation?

Re: just ordered hawk pads

Just make sure you got the right ones for the rears and get the tool for the back calipers not the crappy one that you just stick on the end of a wrachet. Other than that just make a mental note of how everything was when you take them off so you know how they go back together. If this is the first time on a Stang just do one side at a time so if you get confused you can go look at the other side for refrence.

When you install the rear pads make sure you line the pins on the back side of the pads up with the indentation in the pistons, This indentation is the same one that you use to turn the piston in. Other then that you might want to get some new "E" clips from the dealer for the front caliper pins. Oh and make sure you bed the pads to the rotors properlyfollow the directions that come with the pads or you will have a very bad squeak.

Re: just ordered hawk pads

Which tool? And where can I order one? I live in Germany and I would have to order it from the dealership and pay thru the roof so it would be better to get it mailorder.

Thanks.

Re: just ordered hawk pads

i got this off hawk's web site

Brake Pad Installation Procedure
Install brake pads properly. Be sure pads are securely positioned in the caliper.
Flush system with fresh brake fluid.
Check all hydraulic parts for excess wear and tear.
Check disc for proper thickness, parallelism, and lateral runout.
Check disc for scoring or grooves over .012”depth. If either applies, resurfacing is required.
If discs do not need resurfacing, then contamination from the previous brake pads must be removed. Sand discs with 130 grit sandpaper using moderate pressure. Use soap and water to clean discs’ surface after sanding and machining. Discs should be free and clear of oil, grease, and brake fluid.
Inspect calipers for freedom of movement. Lubricate where necessary.

Burnishing Instructions

After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.
DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.

Re: just ordered hawk pads

Well, the Hawk Street Performance pads are a great improvement over stock.

I have them both in front and back. I followed the instructions how to bed them, and they are totaly silent. The shop did turn the rotors, and the rotor surfaces are as flat and smooth as glass.
